USB keyboard holds up boot - Clover/Abit IP35 Pro

First, system specs:

 

Abit IP35 Pro MB

Core2Quad Q6600 CPU

Geforce 8400GS 256MB GPU

Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR 1066 RAM (4x1GB sticks)

320GB WD Blue Hard Drive

MacAlly Keyboard

MacAlly Mouse

 

Initially followed the install process from (the site that shall not be named) to get Snow Leopard installed, then used another tool from same site to upgrade to El Capitan. In the process, boot manager was changed from Chameleon to Clover.

When Clover gets past init(6), the boot process halts and the num lock/power lights start blinking on my USB keyboard. Unplugging said keyboard allows Clover to complete boot. Luckily, I still have a PS2 keyboard which works with Clover (it now stays plugged in at the same time as the USB keyboard). When I had Snow Leopard installed, it didn't do this, so I'm assuming it's a Clover problem.

I've tried:
- Plugging keyboard into all USB ports (both with and without the PS2 keyboard plugged in)
- Changing BIOS Keyboard settings to both "OS" and "BIOS".
- Updating Clover to latest version and installing UsbKbDxe-64 driver.

I tried searching for a DSDT, but only found one for the non-Pro IP35.

Other Google searching has fixes for UEFI booting systems and different MacOS versions, but nothing that applies to this MB.

Thoughts?

Well, thanks for your help regardless.

 

On a related note, when I shut down the system, it often will close MacOS and turn off the monitor (and the power indicator on my keyboard) but the system will still remain running unless I do a hard shutdown. Could that be related? I've tried switching between the S3 and S1 suspend methods in BIOS, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

Whelp, turns out I'm an idiot. It's the keyboard.

 

I just tried an official Apple keyboard (with broken number keys), and it booted just fine. Then, I tried a different USB keyboard, and it worked as well. So, for whatever reason, Clover doesn't appear to like the Macally keyboard. I did notice on the PC keyboard that it quickly lit up the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys before booting Clover.

 

My guess? The Macally keyboard has a Num Lock, Caps Lock and Power light up top, and the lack of a proper Scroll Lock indicator somehow threw it off, because that was the light that kept flashing.

I know this is an old post, but I just want to note that I'v also ran in to this problem and can confirm that Macally keyboard model "mkeye" doesn't allow Clover v2.4 to start the booting process on Dell Optiplex 780. I ran in to exactly the same problem as the original poster with the same symptoms. When I was trying to determine where the issue is, I happened to plug the Macally keyboard on an older hackintosh that boots with Chimera and it worked fine, for what it's worth. I tried Googling this issue and this is the only place this issue is mentioned, so I thought I'd just add to it.
