Well I'm here again, with a new io80211kext for the new 10.5.7 don't forget to reapir permissions, seeya guys

Thank you very much for the updated kext mate :D

Still can't connect without using network diagnostics utility though... The airport icon way says connection timeout.. Will it ever be figured out why this is happening? :thumbsup_anim:

With Snow Leopard 10.6.1, my TP-Link TL-WN550G (Atheros 5005G) works out of the box! and it doesn't even work in Leopard.

atheros5005EGootb.tiff

apple5005G.tiff

Can you share the kext with us? :(

Hello guys !

I have a US Robotics pci wifi card in my desktop pc but it isn't working at the moment. I'm on 10.5.5 but I did my system believe that I am on 10.5.6 (made a change in mijn systemfiles somewhere)

but I should need a working kext for 10.5.5 and maybe also 10.5.6 to have my Atheros AR5005G chip working !

Any chance? :thumbsup_anim:

Thx !

Btw, I don't understand the thing with: en1 and en0

this:

please note you have to have your wireless/airport device as en1, in my case my built in ethernet takes en0 so it works out fine. (make change in /library/systemconfiguration/networkinterfaces.plist)

I can't find the networkinterfaces.plist on that place... Do I have to change this, if yes, where can I find it !

Really thanks in advance :)

sure, Here it is: http://cid-f44b150c99ae9b44.skydrive.live....ily.kext.SL.zip 32bit Snow Leopard

and i edited one for Leopard as well: http://cid-f44b150c99ae9b44.skydrive.live....ly.kext.Leo.zip (Warning this kext is quite buggy)

http://cid-f44b150c99ae9b44.skydrive.live.....kext.SLx64.zip For Snow Leopard 64bit

Let me know if any of these work for you.

I have the same problem!

Network card seems to work, but says "turned off", and if I turn it on, nothing!

I've just readed the entire post, and after following the instrucions on page 1, I had a new network card, but turned off. I tried to modify NetworkInterfaces.plist file, to make it work... but I didn't find it!

Someone has a working solution?

Hi Guys the AR5005G(S) worked for me in SL, by deleting/renaming AppleHPET.kext so that it wouldn't be loaded. And then adding the vendor and device id in the Info.plist of AirPortAtheros.kext.

0. Update to 10.6.2 + AirPort Client Patch

1. Delete/Rename AppleHPET.kext

2. Add the vendor and device id in the Info.plist

3. rebuild Extensions.mkext

4. Repair Permissions /

5. reboot

This would work using the using the original airport kext and should be recognize as an AirPort.

I haven't tried it in 64bit yet.

Hope this helps! :)

Try installing it with kexthelper. That's how I got my atheros 5005g working. It would work through terminal, but it wouldn't turn on. Kexthelper worked first try....Hope that helps...

I tried all the manual stuff a bunch of times with Jas 10.4.8, and iAtkos_5i, etc, but i found this and burned it to a cd on my windows 7 machine and then installed it on my Acer 3690, with 10.5.5, with this wifi card in it and it worked. it froze when i first installed the pkg, then i rebooted and it hung one time, then i rebooted again and it worked perfect. connected with wep. might give it a try.

p.s. mine has an id of 0x168c,0x418

I know this is way after the fact, but this might help someone else having this problem. I had a similar issue with my AR5212/5224 or whatever number Atheros assigns it. After adding my PCI ID to /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Familly.kext/Contents/Plugins/AirPortAtheros.kext/Contents/Info.plist, my "Airport" was detected, but clicking on "Turn Airport On" did nothing. What I had to do was to go to System Preferences>Network, and click on my new Airport adapter. I then went to the bottom of the window and clicked on star/asterisk looking thing, then clicked on "Duplicate Service". This created a second Airport adapter called "Airport 2". I was then able to turn on Airport 2 and associate with my access point. With my most recent Leopard install, it restarts itself every boot, but in the past I've had to manually activate it each time I boot.
