Hi all, typo in the title, meant to say  'Updating working Sierra Install?'

I have been running a Sierra hackintosh without issue for a year, im wanting to upgrade to HS, however im nervous of killing my build.

Is there any way i can back up easily to get back to Sierra if all goes wrong? or do i have to risk it when messing with clover?

Also i cant find a good tutorial for installing on X99 motherboards with 2011 socket, has anyone done this successfully?

Thanks for some guidance!

if you have a spare hard drive use carbon copy cloner to back up!

you have to use correct smbios i had a lot of trouble i find 14,2 works good

i updates through the app store but i suggest updating to the latest clover and update FakeSMC.kext to the latest

Make sure to have ApfsEFI in Drivers64EFI folder in clover before you update.

I agree with making a working bootable copy of your existing build before you install. If your using EMUVarialbe in Drivers64EFI remove it before updating. Also, if you have a good stable configuration in Sierra it should be fine in High Sierra. There is no more need for NVME patches and USB fixes for most users. If you have NVME patches remove those for the new build, I’m running a MacPro 6.1 definition and don’t have any issues and have been able to survive updates.
