Hi Guys. Long time.

Specs:

MoBo: Intel Dx79T0

CPU: Intel i7-3820

RAM: 32GB

SSD: 3-120GB and 500GB Kingston

Graphics: 2 GT670

4 screens.

Ethernet: IntelE1000

Wifi: Atheros40

Sound: VodooHDA

OSX: Install macOS High Sierra.app (October 16, 2017 at 7:41 PM) downloaded today Sunday Nov 19

I recently migrated from El Capitan to Sierra 10.12.6. Some issues since I had to learn Clover vs Chameleon, but now its 100% functional: Sound, wifi, ethernet, multi cpus, graphics (4 screens i mentioned), keyboard, bluetooth, etc. Everything.

Well having done that and a boring Sunday, I decided to clone my Sierra Install (screen shot below) and try to upgrade to High Sierra. In paper, clear and simple. In reality, a nightmare, as it does not work after having tried at least 12 times with 3 different methods.

I also did 2-3 Clean Installs using the methods found here and in other sites (specially the NOT MENTIONABLE site!!). Disk Util erase, etc. Install on the SSD and Clove Bootloader. Then boot, same result.

So as not to bore u guys, the results was:

Setup

1._ Clone 10.12.6 to a SSD 120GB

2._ Install Clover 4289, latest version

3._ Choose first NO UEFI install

4._ Copied Clover from 10.12.6 to new Clone (kext, config.plist, etc)

5._ added apfs.efi to clover/driver64 and drivers64uefi (as a last resource. First just drivers64, then drivers64uefi(for uefi boot), then both).

6._ run Install macOS High Sierra went thru the restart process choosing the Clone as destination.

Resutls

From here on, the result is the same no matter how or what i installed or removed. The non UEFI boot, the UEFI boot (bios setup to allow), and even at a point of desperation using 10.12.6 kext in place of 10.13 (USB stuff Ill explain).

Clover boots, one chooses either [boot macOsx from Clone] or [boot Install Osx from Clone] and many variations. The SMBIOS was set to at least 4 Mac types iMac 14,1-2, MacPro 14,1-2. Also did a final change to the Firmware Features per some instructions found in a post (0xe907f537).

It ALWAYS gets stuck in the screen below, after usb devices or in a usb device (only has mouse and keyboard at a point. Sierra has a trackpad and bluetooth devices). If you remove a USB device and registers on the screen (so i dont think its a usb device or kext).

One rather weird thing is that when booting UEFI, it will not show anything on the screen with the Verbose flag set. It goes directly to the b/w Apple screen.

I dont want to mention all the clover config variations(nv_disable=1, cpus=1, and others), but obviously they didn't have any effect. Attach is the config.plist that was used (the Sierra plist actually).

So, please HELP. If this is the beginning of Apple's defense of their OS as when they where able to stop unblocking the iPhone, well, sh....t, they are doing a good job at it.

Yes, it wasn't a boring Sunday but it became a very frustrating Sunday. :D

Hello. When I upgraded from Sierra to High Sierra I did the following:

1) made a clone of Sierra 10.12.6 to another SSD

2) downloaded High Sierra installer from App Store on 10.12.6 Finder.

3) installed Clover (only Clover) ver 4268 on a USB pen drive

4) put my DSDT into USB > EFI > Clover > ACPI > Patched folder and apfs.efi into USB > EFI > Clover > Drivers64 and Drivers64 Uefi

5) I ran the 10.13.1 installer app directly from Sierra 10.12.6 and after a minute the machine asked for a reboot

6) I plugged my USB pen drive with Clover 4268 into a USB port and choosed "boot OS X Installer from Sierra"

7) installer booted fine to the main window and it upgraded the whole 10.12.6 system to High Sierra 10.13.1 in about half an hour.

8) rebooted from High Sierra SSD and everything was fine, the SSD was APFS converted by the installer

BTW this method worked for both my machines (see signature)

I hope this help

You can try the edited config.plist in attachment
