Ok, I want to install mac os sierra on my Alienware 15 r3.

I have two hard drive in my alienware:

1 SSD (where windows 10 is installed)

1 HDD (where I want to create a partition for mac os sierra)

The main problem is that I don't want to broke my windows 10 installation if possible but I know that if you switch from raid to ahci and from uefi to legacy mode (with secure boot disabled) I will have to reinstall everything (at least with everything on the same drive).

What do you think?

There is a better way to install mac os sierra on my alienware?

You probably need to convert Windows from RAID to AHCI. I've seen people having problems with RAID on Windows disk.

Stay off tonymac's stuff.  :D You'll have much less headache during installation and post-install.

Create a usb with createinstallmedia (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201372) and install Clover (https://sourceforge.net/projects/cloverefiboot/files/latest/download) in UEFI mode on it.

Thank you. So I will need to convert Windows from RAID to AHCI (I hope I can do it without having to initialize), but since Clover support UEFI mode I will be able to avoid legacy mode.. Am I right?

Will I still need to set secure boot off?

Also, I understand why you don't like tonymac's stuff... I'm a developer and I want to install mac os just to use xcode... But if I don't use that I need to find another tutorial for my Alienware 15 r3.

I don't think it's really difficult to use createinstallmedia or Clover, but I don't know how to configure it for my Alienware 15 r3.

PS. I only found this:

List your hardware specs.

You're right.

I'm italian, so i know only this guide, which is very well written: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/306828-guida-installazione-mac-os-x-101x-clover-usb/

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

yesterday I tried to switch from raid to ahci and I was still able to boot into windows 10 with this method:

  1. Run command prompt as admin
  2. Invoke a safe mode boot with the command: bcdedit /set {current} safeboot minimal
  3. Restart the PC and enter your BIOS during bootup.
  4. Change from RAID to AHCI mode then save & exit.
  5. Windows 10 will launch in safe mode.
  6. Right click the windows icon and select to run the command prompt as admin.
  7. Cancel safe mode booting with the command: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot and bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot (boot command
  8. Restart your PC once more and this time it will boot up normally but with AHCI mode activated.

And i was still able to boot my windows 10.

Next step: disable secure mode and still be able to boot into windows 10. Also I think I can make a mix between both tutorial, at the end of the day clover is installed in both case (yesterday I was still not sure about this) and create a usb stick with mac os and the post-installation part is really easy even without closed source software.

There is only one thing that I'm still confused about... in that tutorial clover is installed as UEFI, but in the bios option he switch to legacy mode...

I think this doens't make any sense. Maybe it was a problem with nvidia 1000 series before the drivers... But right now I think I will be able to use UEFI mode.

For the Alienware I think I already know what it will need after the installation, for the wifi I will just use:

http://joshuawise.com/horndis

with my nexus 7 2012 that allow for wifi tethering,

for everything else I will just use:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/327089-alienware-15-r3-on-os-x-10126/

everything written there (no ssd part since I will use my regular hard disk).

Ok my adventure in few words. I was able to make my own macalienware.ù

but I had to do few things.

1. Don't switch to legacy mode, and if you have some problems with windows hello switch off legacy options.

2. Make the USB Drive with this clover.zip:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/attachments/clover-5-zip.252897/

(I had to use this site, but this is just a clover configuration that actually works).

3. After Installation I had to find the right nvidia web drivers version (it's a pain, but there is a list here:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/solving-nvidia-driver-install-loading-problems.161256/

(again just used it to get link to list of drivers)).

- I had to copy my clover EFI USB inside my EFI on the MAC, and change the plist to iMac14,1 and boot options to: -v -nvda_drv=1 -kext-dev-mode=1

4. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/327089-alienware-15-r3-on-os-x-10126/(keyboard and trackpad, audio (install after the boot from the hard disk, change the output to the Speaker) and ethernet installed with :

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/253395-kext-wizard-easy-to-use-kext-installer-and-more/

5. Clover Configurator to create the perfect mac serial (to login into the mac app store and facetime)... just need to find something that don't work on the apple site... I tried this:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/an-idiots-guide-to-imessage.196827/

but you just really need the last part.

Tried to compile one of my little project for iOS and it works. Also Pixelmator works also many ported games with wineskin.

Right now I don't know when and if I will update (since High Sierra does not support 32-bit apps = wine is over), but now that I have done it one time I think I can do it with less pain next time... At least on this laptop.

I think the main goal in the end it's to find the right config to boot EFI, after that you just need to copy that EFI inside the real one and install drivers (and that's much easier).
