Hello.

I've bought an Edimax EW-7822ULC card (link) that has the Realtek RTL8822BU chipset. It comes with a driver "com.realtek.driver.RtWlanU" and a configuration utility called "StatusBarApp".

They both appear to work but the configuration utility is too simple. For example, when the Wireless network supports 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz but both frequencies broadcast the same SSID, I can't seem to force it to choose the 5Ghz band. Most other devices be it phones or laptops manage to connect to it fine. Even those that start on 2.4 eventually move to 5 automatically, but not this card.

Is there some other utility, command line or graphical, that I can use on MacOS High Sierra to drive this card and make it use the 5Ghz band?

Thank you and best regards.
