Wallfacer
Hi, I am trying to hackintosh my antique PC, here is the hardware: CPU - intel Xeon 3210 (lga775) Mainboard - unika UP35, the chipset is Intel P35 (ICH 9) Graphic card - unika Geforce8600gt 256mb Monitor - Dell U2417H HD - WD 1TB Keyboard - PS2 Mouse - USB wired Sound - integrated, ALC Ethernet - integrated, Yukon 8088 Boot: clover v3192 Partition: MBR (tried GPT as well) Installation: Yosemite 10.10.5, on 16GB usb drive [remarks: I've already hackintosh my thinkPad E431 with clover boot/10.10.5, so I have an os system which allows me to perform many attempts.. like, install os x in an usb drive then burn the dmg file to HD.] problem: 1. system reboot automatically when loading the installation / or the installed os x (on usb drive) [resolved: when adding NullPowerManagement.kext under Clover\Kext\10.10, and set "NV_disable=1" in config.plist. the installation (and the installed os x) can be loaded now.] 2. can't load HD. [the HD is not loaded neither in the loaded installation, nor in the installed os x, under many attempts] 3. can't load the USB wired mouse. [the PS2 Keyboard is okay with the VoodooPS2*.kext, while the USB wired mouse is not okay.] anyone here can discuss these issues?
Guest ricoc90
As for the title: I think the Geforce 8600GT *should* work... I've seen others running yosemite on it. Are you injecting the card (Inject->NVidia->True)? As for the other questions:I'm not sure what you mean with "can't load HD", because in your first question you said you can boot the installed os x if you're disabling the nvidia driver. However, take a look at this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/319-yosemite-mbr-patch/
Wallfacer
thank you, ricoc90, and my apologize for the confusion.. the situation is: I m trying to hacintosh my PC with os x 10.10.5, while my laptop (thinkpad e431) have been installed 10.10.5 already -- which allows me to try many methods. my attempts were (in os x environment): 1. make a bootable USB os x installation to run on PC -- the regular way; 2. install the system on USB drive firstly, boot PC with it, draw a dmg file from the installed system on USB, then write this dmg file into a HD partition -- learned from another hacintosh bbs. my problem were: 1. before loading the NullPowerManagement.kext, the system reboot automatically in both attempts above. this has been fixed after the kext loaded. 2. when I put "nv_drv=1" (or Inject NVidia=true) in config.plist (clover), the loading always stick after NV** loaded. if i replace these items with "nv_disable=1", either the installation or the system on USB was successfully loaded; 3. the USB wired mouse can't be loaded in both way, however, my USB wireless mouse worked fine -- WEIRD. 4. the HD can't be loaded in both way -- this may be because i plugged the HD on the 6 sata interface (1-6), i am still looking into this problem. additional issue, the unika mainboard was really a bad purchase -- generated so many weird problems, like when i change the HD to the 1st sata, the mainboard CAN NOT load it at all, but, after I shut it down and put it there for a while (some 10 - 20 minutes), the HD is RECOGNIZED.. Wallfacer
i guess the HD problem is figured out -- since the mainboard is too old, there is no ACHI option for the SATA, only IDE, this might cause the HD can't be recognized in OS installation.. but, i don't have a solution yet
Wallfacer
[update on 08/06] the HD problem has been resolved. my guess was proved -- the old bios without ACHI support caused the HD can't be recognized in os x..it's fixed after i patched the XCHI kext.
