Hi, I installed Sierra on HP HDX 16(more details in signature) but have a strange issue with display detected as projector, display Custom EDID is already injected in clover to fix boot resolution but the projector problem it's still here...

I uploaded ioreg and dsdt, I think it's needed to add GPU in dsdt and then patch display maybe...

I don't know how to add GPU in dsdt, so if anyone want to help me.. :D

Can you also attach a zipped saved SysProfiler?

Meantime, here's a 1st revised patched table. Call using the DSDT_NV.aml filename or rename to DSDT.aml.

attachicon.gifDSDT_NV.aml.zip

Changes done:

  • renamed PEGP.VGA to PEGP.GFX0 (discrete nVidia GPU)
  • renamed PCI0.OVGA to PCI0.IGPU (integrated graphics)
  • injected nVidia classic details to device GFX0, setting model to "nVidia GeForce GT 130M"
  • added _ADR 0 to device PNLF

Sorry for mistake but my laptop don't have integrated graphics, it's a core 2 duo :)

How to save SysProfiler?

Edit: Tried DSDT_NV but display is still detected as projector.

Attached the SysProfiler(I don't know if is the right file)

Edit2: Oh, first time I booted with DSDT_NV and inject nvidia in clover...

When I boot with DSDT_NV and without inject nvidia in clover I get a kernel panic, something about PCIFamily

Where do you see that display is reported as a projector? In About this Mac ? Can you post your zipped Clover EFI folder?

Also the display properties are detected incorrectly, this laptop doesn't support automatic brightness and rotation.

You seem to use the nVidia Web driver. Is the card supported without this? What does "About this Mac" show as a display?

Yeah it's supported without web drivers but the graphics are a bit laggy without web drivers.

Also I can't adjust the brightness and enable night shift feature because of projector issue I think.

Everything looks Ok to me.

With vanilla drivers, graphics could be laggy because you need to tune AGPM:

Thanks, will try later but without the web drivers the display is detected as projector too.

Also DSDT_NV.aml provided by you I can't boot with it(can boot only with nvidia injected) I think it's because IGPU that I don't have.

No, I only renamed the device to avoid confusion.

afaik, no nVidia laptops can gain the brightness bar (I have that same limitation on myD630) but NightShift works Ok as long as you use the correct SMBIOS (for models that support NightShift). MBP7,1 is not one if those, so you have to apply a patch to enjoy it.

What happens if you uncheck "Use as a separate display"?

1. If you only changed the name why I'm getting kp?

2. I have brightness bar and can adjust it but the display brightness won't change, I got it working in Yosemite, also in Yosemite I don't have the projector problem.

3. I patched Core Brightness and tried with Nightshift Unlocker and Lilu, these 2 methods works on my other hack without any problem.

4. When I click on Separate Display nothing changes, remains checked.

Finally solved with FixEDID application that can be found on insanelymac.

I select in application MacBookAir Display and the display isn't detected as Projector anymore, only the size of the display is detected wrong but isn't a problem for me.
