Hi, I installed Sierra 10.12.5 on HP HDX 16, get all to work(without wifi AGN 5100, I'd put an Atheros wifi in second pci slot) and have some minor problems to fix to make it fully working:

Solved:

1. Clover boot menu resolution and resolution before boot(apple logo with loading bar) it's 1024x768 instead 1920x1080 and can't set it to FHD...

2. Brightness control, I'd get it working in Yosemite with ACPIBacklight.kext but in Sierra isn't working anymore.

5. Built-in display is detected as projector(didn't have this problem in Yosemite), and yeah I'm using Nvidia web drivers and tried Inject EDID in Clover but nothing.

6. Not a really problem but in about this mac the video card is show as HP GeForce 130M.... I like it to be NVIDIA GeForce 130M  :D, it's injected with clover not in dsdt, tomorrow will upload dsdt and ioreg(I don't know how to add it in dsdt  :D )

Partially fixed:

3. I get sound with VoodooHDA but when boot, enter sleep and shutdown the speakers make a crack noise.

Remains:

4. After wake from sleep the display enter sleep after few seconds and need to move mouse or press a button to wake it.

Hi,

1. Clover boot menu resolution and resolution before boot(apple logo with loading bar) it's 1024x768 instead 1920x1080 and can't set it to FHD...

Depending on the BIOS, you'll need the CsmVideoDxe.efi file in your drivers64 and drivers64UEFI folders.

2. Brightness control, I'd get it working in Yosemite with ACPIBacklight.kext but in Sierra isn't working anymore.

Sierra is known to have this problem. Depending on the graphics card, you'll need a new backlight kext for this to work. It's also possibly due to the fact that your LCD is detected as a projector (a black external monitor? probably) and not an actual internal screen (it makes sense, really).

3. I get sound with VoodooHDA but when boot, enter sleep and shutdown the speakers make a crack noise.

I have no experience with VoodooHDA, and I would be using AppleHDA if I were you. You can also edit the plist file inside this kext to modify default values. The noises are probably due to mic's sensitivity.

5. Built-in display is detected as projector(didn't have this problem in Yosemite), and yeah I'm using Nvidia web drivers and tried Inject EDID in Clover but nothing.

In some cases, you need to edit your EDID to make your screen appear as a MacBook Air 16:9 screen. This is apparently a common issue on Sierra. I haven't had it before, so maybe you can just use Google for that one.

Nice one!  :hysterical:

I'd also like my AMD 7650M to appear like AMD Radeon HD 7650M rather than AMD Radeon HD 7650M Series. But frankly, it's really not a big deal.

If you still want to, you can achieve that on Clover GUI by chaning GPU name.

Hi,

Depending on the BIOS, you'll need the CsmVideoDxe.efi file in your drivers64 and drivers64UEFI folders.

I have InsydeH2O Legacy BIOS and CsmVideoDxe.efi isn't working.

EDIT: Injected EDID and problem solved :D

Yeah, I tried many kexts but no success, maybe it's because detected as projector.

I'll try to patch AppleHDA, but I don't know if will work...

Thanks for tip, I found something, going to try.

EDIT: I'd injected the EDID but display it's still detected as Projector.

Yeah, it's working when changing the name in clover but how to make it permanently? Maybe in config.plist but where?

With cloverHDA I get audio but after sleep don't have audio anymore, need to restart to have audio again.

Tried CodecCommander and the internal speakers audio is working after sleep but audio jacks aren't working.

Also the volume it's still resetting to 100% after restart or after sleep.

Here are fixes for problems, the 2 remaining problems are not very important but if anyone have a solution can post it...

1. Custom EDID Injection in Clover, I'd used windows to get EDID but I think it's working in mac too.
2. I get it working with Brightness Slider from App Store, not a really fix but works very well, maybe affects battery life(my battery is almost dead).
5. I fixed by using FixEDID app(can be found in insanelymac) and setting in it MacBook Air Display.
6. Injected GPU in DSDT.

For problem 3 I found an almost solution, see post #4, but I still use VoodooHDA.

Many thanks to @Nonta72 and @Hervé

For the audio after wake, try EADPFix too.

And you might want to try AppleHDA aswell.

What is your sound card model? An IDT card?

You can try AppleHDA Patcher.app

It's a great app that automatically patches AppleHDA for you with everything ready.

I'm curious to know how you injected your GPU in DSDT. Do you mind sharing your patch?

I tried AppleHDA Patcher but I can't get audio, tried all methods.

Will try with EADPFix, thanks for tip.

Attached DSDT, but I can't but only with DSDT, I need to keep checked the Inject NVIDIA in Clover too.

What is your sound card model?

Use DPCIManager to find out if needed.

And you sent the whole DSDT, I guess I will have to find the code inside it myself hahahahhh

This sound card is supported by the app as you can see below in attachments.

Maybe you did the injection wrong or incomplete. Most laptops require the IRQ Fix and sometimes HPET Fix to get the patched AppleHDA loading. So, no matter which injection method you choose, you will need these two patches in your DSDT.

I patched the AppleHDA from 10.12.5 for your sound card. Apply the two patches in DSDT Patches folder and also the HPET Fix from RehabMan's repo. Push the fully patched kext to S/L/E. Your sound should work with AppleHDA. Don't forget to remove VoodooHDA before rebooting! And CloverHDA too!

I get audio with this but after sleep I have no sound.

Tried CodecCommander but have sound only on internal speakers, audio jacks not working.

Also the volume still resets to 100%..

That's strange

I had IDT sound cards few times and didn’t have this issue. I assume you already searched for similar laptop for an already patched applehda, it might be the only solution now.

I found an tutorial for the same laptop for Lion but the patched AppleHDA have the same issue with no audio after sleep.

About DSDT you have any idea why I get kernel panic at NVDAStartup with Inject NVIDIA unchecked in clover?

Maybe there is more to do on your sound card than just patching the kext.

And I have no idea about the nvdia graphics sorry.

Does exist an undervolting method for mac? In Windows I was used RMClock but doesn't work on mac, also tried Volta but I get reboot when open the application.

Wow!

This is too advanced for me. As long as I use my laptop, I never touch the Voltage stuff. The only close app I know in this case is Turbo Boost Switcher with controls the Turbi boost on supported processors.

And even if there is such an app that undervolts, you will ultimately need a special fakesmc for it. Maybe it already supports undervolting, I have no idea!
