Dual graphics on Desktop

Hello there, I don't know if this is the right place for asking this, but I have a question.

I noticed that in my build I can run IGPU an PEG at the same time, but my HD 530 refuses to work, only my Nvidia GT710 works.

The question is, there are advantages of running dual graphics on desktop other than having more monitors?

I ask this because I could try to activate my IGPU if i would have more performance...

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have a 1070 GPU and a while back I was doing some test. I was trying to make Intel HD530 to work with Sierra and I noticed a slight boost in my GPU benchmark.

My usual LuxMark benchmark score with 1070 GPU is around 19500 to 19600 points and with both GPUs active in the BIOS I noticed a boost to the benchmark results, it was a little bit more that 20000.

So in conclusion, it might help to boost the overall performance but in your case you are the best judge to decide.

Graphic Switching doesn't work on mackintoshes as far as I know, although there are some people that say it worked for them.

I managed to get working both GPUs, and I don't notice boosting in performance. But I'm gonna have both active, it doesn't harm anyone haha.

Maybe with High Sierra it will come useful, because WindowServer will run with Metal, and both GPUs are Metal capable.

Can you explain how? if i boot both igpu and my 1070, the system will freeze on my igpu input, the system boots on my 1070 input though.

i want igpu (uhd 630) for mac and 1070 for windows

What I do it's having igpu as first graphics device and then connect the Nvidia card. If you connect both cards at the same time you can get one screen working with igpu and the other with the discrete graphics. One remark, VGA is not working on the igpu. I have tested with one monitor with HDMI as internal graphics and VGA on the Nvidia card. what makes strange things is when you play with screen duplication and things like these, so if you test don't touch these settings or you will have to delete screen profiles.
