Hello, and thanks in advance!

I've spent the last 5 days here searching, and reading. I've covered all 300+ pages in the ML, turned Mavericks thread. :)

So I cobbled up a USB stick by way of restore from Install ESD (packages are transferring now). After which I'll use Andy's, or sinetek's mach_kernel && install Chameleon on it.

I've got a couple of concerns tho; 1) I don't think I've seen one indication of anyone having used this APU. 2) Most of the stories are ~2 years old. 3) This APU has Radeon HD5/6000. Which I understand is pretty much no-can-do. I'm not terribly concerned about the Radeon. Cause I've got an nVidia GT-730 that I use as the primary graphics. In fact, I've turned off the Radeon in the BIOS. But...

Anyway. Here's hoping someone here might be [at least] somewhat familiar with my situation, and can provide some valuable wisdom. :)

Thanks!

You haven't installed Chameleon properly. The cause of this is either:

1. You installed Chameleon improperly (which is to say you didn't copy the right bootx files)

2. You have had OS X on that HDD before, but it has been formatted and the motherboard is not booting from your USB properly.

To solve option one you simply need to reinstall Chameleon with the installer pkg found here

To solve option two you must reformat your USB with MBR and install Chameleon from there.

Try the first solution before the second.

Thanks for the reply, 0000-1248 !

Yep. I imagined a reinstall of Chameleon would do the trick. So I grabbed the latest version && performed a reinstall (upgrade, as Chameleon puts it).

Anyway. The (re)install went to the last bit, and when finished. Said it failed, and suggested trying again. So I did; again, and again, and...

Long story short; I gave up on Chameleon, and let Clover do it's deed. Following that, I sent

diskutil list

which returned a $hitload of additional partitions! :fiery:

Well. Guess it's time to start the entire process over again. :( But not using Chameleon for the bootloading!

Thanks again, 0000-1248 for taking the time to reply -- greatly appreciated!

OK been at it solid for several days now. Tried the "Vanilla" method several times, and tried MyHack-3.31. All of which result in a black screen, when attempting to boot to install. The text flies by WAY too fast to see the last string output to the screen. I guess maybe Macintosh only installs to older, lower-end AMD's? Dunno. But after a couple weeks of research, and some 10 attempts to install. I'm not very hopeful. :(

FWIW the hardware I'm trying to put Mavericks on is:

A68HM-PLUS mobo

AMD A6 7470K CPU

nVidia GT-730 PCI-E graphics card

2 sticks 4Gb Patriot RAM

While I have several sata ports on this board. I'm attempting a USB stick install to another USB3 USB stick.

Thanks in advance, for any enlightening information. :)

It isn't working because you aren't using the AMD Kernel. You can find the appropriate AMD kernel for your version of Mac OS X here.

Rename it to mach_kernel and put it on your root directory.

A huge thanks for the reply, 0000-1248 !

I'll give it a shot, and share the results.

Thanks, again 0000-1248 !

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks again, 0000-1248 for the reply. That got me a working installer -- well, and the addition of GraphicsEnabler=Yes.

I think the "Like" button here is broken tho. I hit it some 30 times, but it only registered 1 time.

Thanks again, 0000-1248 !
