asap18 Posted November 5, 2006 Share Posted November 5, 2006 theres maybe a 3%-5% diff not much only the c2d has 64 bit computing. I would go with the mbp because it has a dedivated gpu which would make up for any difference. Either one would be a great first mac, my macbook is the best comp ive had. The C2D is around 10% faster / Hz than the CD, the rest of the hardware is very similair so just decide on your own if the specs are ok enough against the updated modell or not. (C2D runs 64 bit aswell but I doubt there are many 64-bit only applications if any, or many with support for 64-bit to begin with, and the chipset doesn't support more than 4GB ram of which around 3.2GB is usable anyway.) The old macbook pros got an underclocked X1600, might run hotter (but more silent) and lacks FW800, DL-burner and the new 802.11n-draft wlan chip. Edit: Oh, you said C2D Macbook, not Macbook Pro.
