Newbie Question about Graphics Cards

Hey everyone!

I'm looking around at graphics cards for a new build and have a quick question-

Am I correct in my understanding to assume that I can use any brand name graphics card so long as on the box I see the green seal that says NVIDIA GTX GeForce on it?

It seems like a lot of people on this site build and run their systems with EVGA graphics cards and the NVIDIA driver.  However, I was looking into purchasing either an ASUS or MSI graphics card so that I can better coordinate the colors of my computer components.

@MaLd0n is it just the 900 series though?  What about the GTX 1050, 1060 or 1070?

dont work!

line 4xx, 5xx, 6xx work with inject!

line 7xxx, 9xxx work with nvidia web drivers!

line 1xxx dont work!

the best is 950, 960, 970 or 980

I use xfx 970 and gigabyte 950, work good!

many evga gtx 6xxx work oob. Use original apple drivers, but old gpu.

@MaLd0n,  How can I get my Nvidia 740 FTW 1gb card to work well when I can't restart my machine so the web drivers will work. Is there a way around to install the drivers without a restart? I have the Nvidia icon up top and can click on Nvidia We Driver, but it asks for me to restart which I can't do at the moment.

@MaLd0n how did you get your computer to restart so the Nvidia Web Drivers would take hold? Is there not a way to get the Web Drivers to work in Sierra? I have heard some on youtube say that the XFX R9 280X should work fine without drivers because the real Mac Pros use Radeon cards in their system. Mine has not worked so thats why I bought the EVGA 740 ftw 1 gb last year.

I just need to find a way to install these damn Nvidia web drivers.
