Whatever2930
Hello, I'm trying to install OS X Mavericks on a Dell OptiPlex 760 (GTX 750ti, 4GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Quad) and I am using this guide. I made the flash drive and when I booted it up at first, I was frozen. I then added "nv_disable=1" and I was finally able to get an installation screen (kind of). After I press the next arrow, I am bombarded with an error message "Mac OS X can't be installed on this computer". Here's more information: I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've tried safe mode (-x). Also, I'm fairly new to this, so please keep that in mind. Thanks
nawcom
That's usually due to a legit board-id value not being set via smbios.plist for Chameleon. Are you using an smbios.plist file? Just in case, here's one for iMac9,1 that the guide mentions using: http://olarila.com/files/SMBIOS/iMac9.1.plist save to /Extra/smbios.plist

I added yours however I'm still receiving the error.
nawcom
the board-id Mac-F2218FA9 that the smbios.plist sets is on the approved list, so that's strange. Here you can remove the board-id check altogether by replacing the OSInstall.mpkg in /System/Installation/Packages with the appropriate version from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/download/145-mavericks-mbr-patch/

Whatever2930
The computer originally had an Intel Core 2 Duo in it, however I replaced it with a Core 2 Quad. I decided to switch it back to the Duo to see if I could get any farther. I did, I think. I now get the error "There was a problem reading the Mac OS X installation disc. Carefully clean the disc, and then try reinstalling." I'm going to try to start from the beginning and create the flash drive again from scratch, maybe I did something wrong while creating it. Whatever2930
I remade the USB from scratch, I'm back to the original error. I downloaded the OSInstall.mpkg file and replaced it where you said and I got to the "Installing" screen. Currently installing with 21~ minutes right now. The installation is really fast (from the moment I wrote this sentence, it changed to 20), which is concerning me. I'm glad I got this far, thank you. 0000-1248
By the way, that 750 ti of yours uses the Maxwell architecture, which is incompatible with Mavericks. For Maxwell compatibility, you will either need to use the experimental MaxwellEnabler.kext (linked here) or install OS X 10.10 or above.
