Dual nVidia GPU system fails

Built my first hackintosh at age 50! Specs:

Gigabyte Gaming 7 mobo

32 GB DD4 DRAM

Multiple SSD's and spinning platters.

EVGA GTX 980 Ti GPU (x2) connected to 4K Acer 27" monitor

It's that last item that is causing all kinds of havoc. I initially built the system (using Clover and the two "beast" apps) with a single GPU installed. Up and running, including a separate SSD for booting into Windows 10 Pro (for gaming). Latest nVidia drivers installed in Sierra for the single GPU.

Found a second identical 980 Ti and installed it and connected it with an SLI cable - it shows up without issue on the windows 10 side and I get crazy frame rates on ultra settings in Steam. So all good there.

BUT - Sierra won't boot from USB install stick. I get an Apple logo and then a white circle with a slash through it. I get that OS X doesn't support SLI (or crossfire)...that's fine. I don't care if Sierra completely ignores the presence of the 2nd GPU (well...I'd prefer that it didn't...but as long as it doesn't cause problems I'm fine)

Troubleshooting so far:

Remove power to second card - Sierra boots fine.

Using CloverConfigurator, changed 2 items in Rt Variables (BooterConfig set to 0x28 and CsrActiveConfig set to 0x67) and replaced OsxAptioFix2 with OsxAptioFix - all recommended on tonymacx86

Still getting error (in verbose boot mode) which seems to be related to memory allocation issue - maybe the OS is getting "confused" by the extra memory provided by the 2nd GPU?

I've attached a screen shot of the error screen.

Yes - I could just unplug power to the 2nd GPU whenever I want to boot into Sierra instead of Win 10, but that seems a recipe for disaster - repeated connect/disconnect of power cords makes for possible breaks that I don't want to even think about.

There has GOT to be a way to run a hackintosh with 2 GPU's. I can't be the only person who has tried this.

HELP this noob!

Well I looked through the entire usb stick - there is no file that has Aptip in it's name. The only file is the OsxAptioFix

So I'm very confused by that screen shot...any ideas??

Check your DriverX64UEFI folder, remove every OsxAptioFixDrv you have, then put one back in

Check your DriverX64UEFI folder, remove every OsxAptioFixDrv you have, then put one back in

I checked that folder - in it are only 4 items:

FSInject-64.efi

OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi

OsxFatBinaryDrv-64.efi

VBoxHfs-64.efi

So - only ONE OsxAptioFixDrv is present.

Other ideas?

Did you do any DSDT edits to get the system running with single GPU? If so, then your DSDT might be wrong for the dual GPU configuration, and you'll need to start over on that.

No - never edited anything like DSDT. On the original Sierra install, I pretty much followed the steps outlined on tonyxxx. That was with a single GPU. Once I booted my hack into Sierra, I downloaded the latest nVidia drivers and all was good. It was only after installing the 2nd (identical) GPU that it failed to boot. And if I remove the power to the 2nd GPU (but leave it plugged in), Sierra boots fine.

So strange.

Does it work if you leave the 2nd GPU powered and remove the SLI bridge?

Nope- if the 2nd GPU is powered (with or without SLI bridge), it fails with the error seen above...something about the presence of the powered 2nd GPU...memory allocation issue(s).

What is your smbios setup? I'm using iMac 14.2. I'm running two 980ti cards without issue.

FINALLY!! Somebody who not only has the cards that I do, but has it working!! I'm not sure where I look up my smbios...can you walk me through getting that info for you? So pumped that you have those cards working!!

Have you tried OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi instead of OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi?

Your smbios settings are written in clover config.plist file. Post it in pastebin website.

OK - checked - I am running iMac 14,2

Tried the Fix2Drv-free2000.efi - got a little farther, but still failed - trying to attach screenshot, but no "attachment" button...

Take a look here:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309729-gigabyte-z170x-gaming-7-success-hackintosh/

Maybe it will help.

And here:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311751-msi-installing-os-x-yosemite-couldnt-allocate-runtime-area-error/

2- The recommended BIOS Settings: CFG to Disabled and VT-d to Disabled are also NOT TRUE!!! I am able to boot from the USB and reach the installation stage with both of these 2 setting enabled.

But the most important is this:
