xouspring
Hello, This is not really system or clover related but i thought some of you experienced it and could help me. I've had this annoying problem since some time ( think before installing el capitan ) and i've lived with it so far but i'm trying to fix it since i have some free time on holidays : when i start or restart the system, 1 out of 2 or 3 times the startup freezes on the Asus splahscreen before loading the bios. F2 doesn't bring it up and it's frozen there. I have to force shutdown and start again and it then starts up fine each time. I have tried updating the bios to latest version but it didn't help. I have an asus Z97i. Did anyone experience something like this or have an idea of to solve this? Thanks!
William Parker
Try to flash the BIOS again if possible using DOS tools from a bootable DOS variant. Things like this happened to me once. Can even try upgrade to the latest one if you are not yet on it.
xouspring
Thanks for the answers. Unfortunately I've tried installing the RTC kext patch but the problem persist. And i'm already on the latest bios. Could it be a hardware problem?
William Parker
Have you tried to re-flash the BIOS as I asked? Just flash the one you have once again. Reset the CMOS and make the settings again. This very much sounds like a faulty flash.
xouspring
I tried again this morning yes ( i already flashed it ) but unfortunately it didn't help. I'll continue looking... Thanks !
Ramalama
This happens if you use wrong bios, for other motherboard... The bios files works for a range of boards, for example, i have an asus UX301LA (there are 2 models of that laptop available) so there are also 2 different bios, one called UX301LAAAS and the other is called UX301LAAS (so you see 2 versions, 2 different laptop models) but both are working, just with the wrong one i have a 5 sek post delay, and the right one boots instant... Had this on other laptops like sony, i had a Sony VGN-Z11 and i flashed bios from Sony VGN-Z51 (Z51 model bios works on Z11 perfectly) for example... So maybe you've choosed a bios for the wrong motherboard... z97-e / z97-a / z97i / etc... i believe they are all compatible together....
