Jan Goergen
Hi Guys, I got a HP Omen 870-116NA for Xmas and would like to run MacOS Sierra and Win10 on it. It has a separate hdd for Sierra. I've already downloaded Sierra, #####, Clover and ##### etc but when I start the install to a clean drive I get the following message. "Can't perform kext scan : no kext summary Process name corresponding to current thread:unknown Args: dart=0 nv_disable=1" I am thinking this is either to do with my bios settings prior to the install or an issue with the Nvidea graphics card/driver , also - does anybody know if I should be using Legacy or UEFI ##### download for this new machine? nawcom
Read: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/ If you want support here you can follow this thread: Making a 10.10/10.11 USB Installer /w Clover (UEFI and Legacy) the correct way! it includes a version for Sierra. And on that note, it looks like the link in the OP for Sierra is dead at the moment, luckily I made a mirror of it: http://mirror.nawcom.com/guides/10.12/ I'll have to let Pavo know. Looking at your specs, I see this model came with a GTX 1060 which there's no driver for, and we have no idea if NVIDIA will ever make drivers for their Pascal cards. So to be honest, if you're stuck using this video card then it's probably not worth running OS X on it at the moment. If you need help with tonymac's stuff then go ask for help in tonymac's forum. Jan Goergen
Hi nawcom, I just saw your reply, Thank you very much. I saw the post you mentioned regarding Tonymacx86 after posting my question. I will most definitely have a look at the post you mentioned and will give it another try. In regards to the graphic card: is it possible to utilise the onboard graphic card for MacOs and the GTX 1060 for the Windows? If so, how would i have to approach this? Thanks in advance Jan
nawcom
Yes you could but that would involve reconnecting the display in the back and changing a Primary Graphics Adapter setting in UEFI from PCIExpress to Onboard or its equivalent every time you switch operating systems. If you're up for that then yes, it's possible. Looking at your motherboard's specs here I see accessing the CPU's HD530 graphics only comes with HDMI support. Is using an HDMI splitter a possibility - meaning you'll connect the GTX1060 and HD530 to the HDMI splitter which will then connect to your Display? I have no idea - I doubt anyone has tried it. It would take away the need to turn the PC around and unplug your monitor's cable from one device and plug it into the other one every time you boot up a different OS. Also, in order for something like this to work your motherboard's UEFI needs to have an option in the Graphics or Chipset settings called "iGPU Multi-Monitor" or something equivalent to that. If you don't have that, then your motherboard cannot communicate with both video devices at once, and you'll have to manually change a UEFI BIOS setting every time you switch operating systems like I said. You could always replace the GTX 1060 with a supported card as that's another option with getting OS X working well without having to deal with issues, but that'll just cost you more money As for your error you got: "Can't perform kext scan : no kext summary" this is usually due to Clover having problems detecting the correct information about the memory you have - in your case you have 8GB of DDR4-2133 memory so if haven't tried manually setting your memory info via the Clover Configurator App as shown in someone else's thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309226-os-x-is-only-recognizing-half-of-my-ram/ then you can give it a try. You'll have to figure out if you're using 2 4GB memory sticks or 1 8GB memory stick. If for some reason you don't have access to OS X for running Clover Configurator then I can show you what to specifically add to the Clover config.plist if needed.
