jonny789
I have HP laptop having multi os ( windows 10 , macOS & linux) and using clover bootloader ( EFI partition & GUID table ). There was sync time problem among the os . So I googled my problem and found the solution in which a dword "RealTimeIsUniversal" is created and set to value 1. After doing this , I restarted the laptop and encountered a serious problem . It is showing now this everytime when I poweron my laptop :: """"""" Boot Device Not Found Please install an operating system on your hard disk. Hard Disk <3F0> """"""" Using bios system diagnostics program , it is showing this :: SMART Check : PASSED Short DST : Failed Has my laptop hard disk got failed now ?? Is it solely caused due to that registry editing ?? Can I get my all OS back by undoing that ? The harddisk had been working fine till now and encountered no hard disk issue. There is important data in all OS. Please help me & guide me .
drmacpros
Short DST : failed You need to replace your hard drive. You should be able to purchase the parts on the notebook's HP Parts Surfer Page http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=XD403EA Had you previously created any Recovery Media such as a thumbdrive? Without this you'll be unable to reinstall the operating system when you replace your hard drive. You'll need to contact HP Support in order to get one of these kits. Has whole hard disk got corrupted/damaged or just the EFI partition ?
drmacpros
Changing a DWORD in the registry (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation\RealTimeIsUniversal) that switches between localtime and UTC, does not affect the hard disk A short dst failure indicates that the hard disk is failing or has failed. You will need to replace the hard disk with one of the same or larger capacity and run a factory restore via the recovery disk set or USB recovery media.
