sev7en
Dear friends, as pointed out a few days ago, I ordered a new MacBook Pro 17" last week before looking into the latest "news" about the "legal" 10.4.8 kernel. What I asking to myself, and to you is... do you think it would be good? So... I can cancel my order, it's still under "packing" but: someone can te me more about the latest Jas' 10.4.8 powered by semthex kernel? Thanks in advance, sev7en
BuXb
when you are already that far .. you just won't find a 17" 100% compatible PC-Laptop. So I would say: get your MacBook, and if you need it, install XP on it ..
lord_muad_dib
yeah.. as it seems they fixed a lot of problems since the first macbook generation. "now" the MBP is a good beast

RobNyc
Yes. A Real Mac is the way to go soon or later. OSX86 is just a dream to see if we like osx or not. But trust me I went to the apple store on friday for my first time using a real mac. I was amazed.. I am definitely waiting on affording 1. The thing I thought about, x86 laptops come with windows , windows = problems, soon or later, and why not appreciate the quality, small, good looking, apple laptop with osx, dual-boot with windows, and even triple with linux if u want
SpeedfreaK
Yeah, there is nothing better than a real mac. we are using real macs @ home since 1985 because my mother worked @ apple but i bought a pc several years ago to run more applications, and i never make such a mistake again!! katmail
Hi Steven some rumors... As always, the rumor mill is churning, and some people are speculating that Steve Jobs will drop a Leopard launch bombshell at Macworld in January and officially release it at that time. By doing that, they would beat their previous launch estimate, shock the public, and steal some of Vista’s thunder in January 2007

jtg
I would love to run OS X but Im not willing to buy a mac. There arent enough options and they arent flexible enough for me. I dont want to be tied to one vendor. If Apple ever wants to let me legally pay for and use OS X, I would be more than willing. Until then Im going to have to use it illegally I dont see why they dont open it up, on one hand yes they cant force people to buy their hardware if they do, but on the other hand it will become more mainstream and steal marketshare from Microsoft. So, for that reason, I personally would say not to get the mac. Not getting it might encourage apple to open up their market for this community instead of forcing us to buy all of their hardware. And yes there are 100% working PCs, and its only getting closer.
katmail
Hackintosh Notebooks has more issues then Hackintosh Desktops..And I too have that experience..You can read in the many forums they will report in the forums this not working that not working..If you ask what is the best Hackistosh notebook nobody can answer your question.. Stupid questions with have stupid answers..Many members here will ask you to buy the Macbook Pro and members here also believe Apple make the best Notebook.Even Windows Experts Paul Thurrott has a Macbook .Can OS X 10.5 leopard run on an Hackistosh. Dr Forrester
That would be an incredibly long post! But answering the original question-if at all possible-buy/have/use both.I love my pc rig with OSX on it,and in the meantime use my cheap G4 sawtooth for surfing-until I upgrade the cpu with tax money next year. Plus-you can flash the agp card on a G4 and have an awesome display.
