I am assuming it's a GPU issue so, since I have an Nvidia GPU (GTX 650), I'll post it here. So, I got a new monitor (a Philips Brilliance 258B6QJEB) and I didn't have (or didn't notice) this issue when I got it. The issue: from time to time, pretty much randomly for as far as I can tell, the image on the display would move 1-2 pixels to the left or to the right. It's a very slight and very fast movement. So only if you're staring at the display at that moment (and you don't blink in the meantime lol), you can see it. It's literally a "blink and you miss it" kind of thing. It's like someone is moving whatever is showing on the monitor slightly to the left or to the right. It's not noticeable in fullscreen movies. Or anything animated. But it is in a browser window or a text editor. Anything static basically. This occurred both with El Capitan and now with Sierra, so I'm not sure it's a matter of OS. Also, I recently reinstalled Sierra. So that rules out any issue that could have been kept after an update from El Cap to Sierra. I couldn't find a pattern to this. And it doesn't seem to occur with the integrated GPU (Intel Graphics HD 4600).... Though that's not supported OOB and I couldn't make it work in any way. So, if I plug into that DVI port on the motherboard (also using DVI on the dedicated graphics card), I can only go 1280 x 768 (on a 25" 2K monitor, that's just horrible) and with no graphics acceleration. So I'm not sure this would be a fair and valid comparison to see where the problem is. Also, I got no other supported dedicated GPU laying around for comparison. Anyone got any idea what could be wrong here? Is it the driver? I'm using the default OS X driver since the video card is supported OOB and I see no need for the Nvidia driver, especially since I'm not a gamer. But I will also try with Nvidia drivers to rule out this possibility. See how that works. In the meantime, please, feel free to share your ideas. Any idea counts. A screen-saver mechanism intended to prevent burn-in on static images. I don't have that monitor anymore, but yeah, I figured that would be the cause of the issue and turned off this option. Once again, thank you for your answer. Even if it doesn't help me anymore, it's still good for anybody else who might stumble upon the same issue. So yeah, thanks!
