EFI-flashable Nvidia cards?

Hi all,

I am trying to find out which old graphics cards for PC that are possible to flash into a Mac EFI version.

I have an old Mac Pro 3,1 with 2 Xeons, Lion 10.7.5 and 8 Gb RAM, that originally came to me with a broken ATI 2600XT. After some research I found that I can use several PC graphics cards, and settled for an Asus 8600 GTS that works fine in Photoshop, which is what I mainly do on the MP. Now, it would be great to be able to get the Apple logo and the different boot options that exist for those who can see their screen before the desktop comes on.

In my stash of PC parts I have some graphics cards that could be transformed into compatible "Mac Edition" cards. I know it takes a lot of tricks and maybe even soldering a larger EEPROM on some of them, to make room for the Apple bios. I am in the process of messing around with different BIOS files but none have really worked. So my question is: Did anyone succeed mac-flashing one of these video card models? Or with something similar? Thankful for any tales of your flashing adventures.

I have, so far, these candidates:

GTX 460 (Gigabyte N-460OC-1GI)

GTX 275 (Leadtek)

8600 GTS (Asus EN8600GTS Silent)

8800 GTX (Sparkle)

Of which I already tried to flash the 8800 into a Mac Ed. Quadro 5600, which was kind of possible, but it seemed to brick the card on the PC I was working with so I changed it back. I have read that SOME cards can be turned into SOME Quadros if the hardware is the same.

I got most of these old cards for free so it is no biggie if I brick one of them permanently in the name of mad scientism.

Thanks, looks promising even if it is mostly about ATI cards. It would be great if those who have original Mac Nvidia cards could dump their ROMs and post here, for future experimentation. There are a few Mac vBIOSes online, but somewhat scattered and it is hard to know what model they were made for. I know that my MP 3,1 wants 64-bit EFI, but not if an older 32-bit would work.
