I don't want any confusion over what kind of system I am using for the target, so I am posting that behemoth of system information.

 

I am at my wit's end. I am unable to install El Capitan to a system which should be able to run it like a boss. First of all, Clover bootloader does NOT work at all. I have tried both EFI and Legacy modes, and they both throw me into the Boot Manager. I have disabled Secure Boot and enabled CFM in the BIOS. I have enabled Legacy USB support in the BIOS as well. I have only gotten anywhere using Chameleon bootloader, but it resets during the kernel initialisation stage. The laptop I am using is a powerhouse and I would REALLY like it to be able to run OS X. Any help would be appreciated. To create the USB installer, I used the apple method CreateInstallMedia, and I used the Enoch version of Chameleon (rev 2839) and the most up to date version of Clover that I could find (2.3k r3650). El Capitan installer was acquired though the Apple Store.

It appears I am unable to edit my postings. I wanted to make it clear that I do not have any USB 2.0 ports on this laptop. It appears that Clover has issues booting from USB 3.0 drives. Chameleon doesn't seem to have this issue, at least I can get it to boot and try to load something, but that is about as far as I can get.

Maybe, but so far, no one has been able to explain to me why during boot it immediately goes to the Boot Manager. I would LOVE to use Clover. I am not sure which settings are required in order to get it to work. I was hoping someone would be able to help me along. Now, I am not asking anyone to hold my hand, I mean, I have dabbled in DSDTs and getting the proper kexts for the system, but that is all moot, when I can't even get past the bootloader.

Put -xcpm in your boot arg and KernelPM=True in your config.plist, will solve the early reboot hopefully

We are finally getting somewhere! clover is booting properly in UEFI mode! I am able to select the El Capitan installer, but now I get a kernel panic for AppleACPIPlatformExpert...

 

Unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI"blah....IOPlatformExpert.cpp

 

I am trying to do a google search for it, there are SO MANY  'solutions' available. It appears that the vast majority of them are device specific, and don't seem to work for my particular system.

 

Also, I am using Clover Configuratior, and there are a few settings in here which I do not understand.

 

I am still doing some google research for a solution, but if you can provide some grains of wisdom, that would always be appreciated.

I deselected every patch and I got further with the booting, but now...it boots to a black screen. :-( I am still doing research for that.

Search for Rehabman's FakePCIID, put every kexts in the release folder to your Clover's kext folder

Just an update. I 'fixed' the black screen issue by selecting the 'InjectIntel' in the graphics section. This renders very...very basic graphics support, enough so that I was able to install El Capitan to the HDD. Additional problems are that the keyboard and touchpad no-work. I think this is because a PS/2 kext is needed? I think that is how it works for some notebooks. Luckily, I have USB mouse and Keyboard which has allowed me to get though the prompts. I will keep you updated on my progress.
