equalme
I currently own a 15" rMBP but I never removed it from the desk due to it's size and weight. I have an iPad for leisure entertainment. Currently thinking about picking up a rMB 12" for portable use to work and school, selling the rMBP and building a Hackintosh. Initially I was considering the 5k iMac 27" but the GPU is terribly lacking for the price. Since Nvidia isn't natively supported by Apple, how is the performance of say a 980 Ti on a Hackintosh vs Windows? I know they all say that if I want performance for gaming, then use Windows. I built a 6700k + GTX 970 months ago, loaded up Windows 10, stopped using after a few days since I just couldn't get used to Windows again after using OS X for ~4 years. I'm vested in the ecosystem. I didn't consider converting it to a Hackintosh so unfortunately I sold off all the parts.

Well, they say that Windows is for gaming, but ever wondered why?It isn't about the OS itself (where OS X smokes Windows), it's about OpenGL on OS X, which doesn't compare to DirectX on Windows. DirectX is WAY more optimized by Microsoft and with help from hardware and game vendors, way more than OpenGL. Moreover, DirectX is proprietary, unlike OpenGL, and don't expect it to follow the .NET Framework in "open-source-izing". Even if it did, it is quite a mission to port to OS X. Unfortunately, gaming is OS X's Achilles heel.
