Ed Ding
Hello I have everything working except USB 3.0. It does work sometimes, sometimes it stops during copying, sometimes HDDs dont mount etc... USB 2.0 ports work always. I read a lot into this already http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/ BUT I have not "enough" entries to make the steps as describe in that topic! Can you help me fix my USB ports, so they all work and dont corrupt data files/stop copying? Thank you
Cyberdevs
see this topic and download the EFI folder I posted. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309352-el-capitan-on-ga-z170x-gaming-5/
Ed Ding
Unfortunately nothing changed, got the exact same things now in my EFI folder! USB 3.0 still working half time... posted the wrong link before, here is the right one http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/
Cyberdevs
As you can see I have the exact same mainboard and CPU and all my USB ports are working. Have you read the instructions I posted on my topic?
Ed Ding
Of course! I did everything as described! Very strange now: OSX says: USB device needs power...? Never saw this before
Cyberdevs
Use clover configurator to edit your config.plist Under Devices check USB inject=yes, Fix Ownership=yes, HighCurrent=yes see if it fixes your USB problem
Ed Ding
No it doesnt change anything
Cyberdevs
Which ports do you use BackPanel USB ports or FrontPanel USB ports? Because some times when I plug a USB 3.0 device to my front panel USB ports I get the same error but not always.
Ed Ding
Front and back! Problem is: USB 3.0 starts copying when the HDD is recognized and after a few minutes it just hangs...Did you every try 5 or 6 HDDs? Because with only one HDD USB 3.0 works fine... There is something very wrong with this setup
Cyberdevs
I tested every port and plunged in every hard disk I had at the same time and there are several internal hard disks as well. The only problem I encounter was when I leave the system idle after few minutes finder freezes so I disables "Put hard disks to sleep when possible" in energy saver. After that everything looks normal.
vusun123
If you use Rehabman's USBInjectAll and have this problem, add -uia_exclude_xhc to the boot args of your config.plist
Ed Ding
where exactly should I write that in? Like that? Thanks
Cyberdevs
I suppose so. That's were you add additional boot arguments.
Ed Ding
Yeah - doesnt change anything Or does that need to go in another plist? I put it in the EFi/CLOVER/plist one
Cyberdevs
send me your config.plist so I can take a look and see if can help you out.
Ed Ding
Thank you a LOT for your help This is the EFI/CLOVER/config.plist one config.plist.zip
Cyberdevs
But tell me first, have you updated the BIOS to F5 version and which version of Mac OS X you are running?
Ed Ding
Yes F5 BIOS. 11.5 since yesterday. 11.3 before. But no difference at all.
Cyberdevs
It's ok I need this info because there are some settings here which are no longer needed in 10.11.4 and newer I just wanted to make sure that I don't mess things up for you. And just to make sure is XHCI is enabled in BIOS. Fingers crossed Hope it solves the problem. config.plist.zip
Ed Ding
Soooooooo! Still doesnt work BUT - very interesting. Before my USB speed was (external raid) about 300MB/s, now it is only 100MB/s. It worked for 40GB of copying now instead of 5-6 as before but...not really better Strange world EDIT: It seems that all other USB devices work (normal HDDs) except this RAID (just an IcyDock 2 disk enclosure with USB 3.0) AND an SSD in an external SSD reader. Otherwise everything seems to work.
Cyberdevs
It is strange indeed!!! How many USB devices are connected at a same time?
Ed Ding
So I tried everything now. Even if only one is connected - this SSD will not be recognized (instantly on macbook pro) and the Dual-Disk-"Raid" gets recognized most of the time but stops responding in finder after a few gigs. It starts with 300MB/sec and suddenly stops now. The rest works. ---? I use you config.plist, BIOS settings triple-checked...no idea! and this remedy seems extremely complicated http://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/10-11-0-10-11-3-skylake-starter-guide.179221/(scroll down to usb), I dont even get it!
