ic3cold
My ATI 6870HD uses a DSDT with injected code, I was wondering what I can do to disable the whole thing from Chameleon at boot, I tried several boot options and none worked. What I want to know is what kexts need to be disabled, and configuration changes, so I can try it in video mode that works, as I tried it successfully in a Mini Linux and Mini XP distros, and it displays the screen but in Mac OS X, it loads the modern apple logo boot screen and when it is switching it suddenly goes to grey or blue, I tried many commands, somebody said it was not supported but the code worked fine, and I've read a list where the Barts chip was supported under Lion.Anyways I would like to know what needs to be done to disable all drivers, so it can run in the default modes, like it does in Linux and Windows, Linux works fine at 1024x768@76Hz and Windows XP up to 1400x1050x32 ...Just need a way to see my desktop again ... Thanks! I´m using my custom Mac since I built it back in 2010, and it took me 3 months to figure out it wasn't working because of T-Link Wifi card, that caused Kernel Panics. This system worked for me for years, only a week ago the problems started, so I was wondering if someone more savy can help me figure out what can I do to use it at least without acceleration, it´s an XFX 6870HD Barts 6738 device ID.My system is an i7 950, 4Gb 1033 DDR3 RAM, an Intel DX58SO motherboard.I was able to run maya(before when I had 8Gb), Photoshop CS6, After FX CS6, Cinema 4D, Element ·D, etc, and all worked fine until a few days ago ... JahStories
If you want you can remove Ati related kexts in single user mode.
ic3cold
Exactly what I did but maybe I did something wrong, as I moved all ATI* to a new folder I called /Backups Then I tried to boot but same thing, besides /Extra where the kexts are stored? and as I have an injected DSDT, is it possible is it loading from there? What I have to do to make sure they are not booting? I just need to know the paths or folders these kexts are located ...
spakk
I can not follow you, what folder you are looking for? /Extra/Extensions/ ? or /System/Library/Extensions/ ?
ic3cold
Well are those the only places the kexts reside? I just need to know how to access my desktop so far it's just a black or grey screen no KP nothing just that. Might be the power supply?

Anyway having such graphic card I am sure you can reach desktop just using boot-arg "-x" (safe boot).
