kosakgroove
Hi guys! My 1st laptop in signature works pretty damn nice as a Hackintosh. It is definitely pretty safe, because I have BIOS access password, so nobody could delete my HDD content, if my laptop was to be stolen. If they who stole the computer boot it, Clover appears, and I have quiet a few options: Windows is password protected, All my OSX installs are password protected also, but I am worried that if it gets stolen, they will try to access Recovery HD and it works, without any password. So then they will realize they can delete everything. What can I do to prevent this, except setting a password in the BIOS for every time the computer boots, this meaning a password before CLOVER. Is there any way I can protect my Recovery HD in my Hackintosh?

kosakgroove
Well, password is what I mostly wanted, I know they can de solder BIOS chip and replace.. and then change HDD.. but thats a lot of trouble I guess. I know encryption makes everything slower and gives different issues.. Is there no way to protect RecoveryHD?
Maniac10
You can simply hide the entry with GUI/Hide/Recovery, or create custom entries without the recovery and disable GUI/Scan/Entries, so now you can only access that partition with an external driver with Clover . And if you seriously want to protect your information your best option is encryption (no idea on the performance impact nor hack support though). YEAH BRO! that was my question.. i think FileVault just screws your whole install on a Hack, TrueCrypt makes everything very slow on hacks. I would like to create custom entries, but they always fail to appear..
kosakgroove
If a firmware password was possible , it would be thebest for me, but I guess I will just hide the recoveryHD. By the way how can I hide it using Clover Configurator?
Maniac10
In CC go to GUI, then in the Hide list add an entry called "Recovery" and you're good to go. If you want help with custom entries let me know and I'll help you set it up.

If you want help with custom entries let me know and I'll help you set it up. Hey bro! It worked 100% thanks a lot for covering one of the biggest weak spots in my Hackintosh. Now, what I would love to do, is make that the Clover i have in my HDD doesnt scan entries. I want it to only "see" the custom ones I will set. If I need to access any other bootable device through Clover I will do it through my Clover USB, booting it from BIOS, that is password locked, and therefore a bit safer way to protect the hackintosh, meaning even if you have a OSX installer, the Clover that will be accessible to the thief (the one in the HDD) will not read the USB, and he wont be able to access BIOS to boot the Clover in the USB. I really need your help in this Custom Entry stuff, it has proven very hard for me, and after many tries I have never managed to make it work. I have 2 OSX 10.11.3 partitions, one for Mavericks, and another one for Windows 10 UEFI. If you can help me, whenever you have time, would you prefer to do it over this post, or over private message? Thanks a lot for your answer.
Maniac10
We're still on-topic so if it doesn't bother the mods we can continue the discussion here. Post a boot.log and a "diskutil list" output and tell me where are the entries you want to add.

Maniac10
For UEFI custom entries you need at least the Volume (it can be the name or GUID), Type (OSX, OSXInstaller, OSXRecovery, Windows, etc) and Name or FullName (full will override the whole "Boot xxx from yyy" legend). So in your case this should work for most entries: <key>GUI</key> <dict> <key>Custom</key> <dict> <key>Entries</key> <array> <dict> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>Macintosh HD</string> <key>Type</key> <string>OSX</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>Macintosh</string> </dict> <dict> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>Darkside</string> <key>Type</key> <string>OSX</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>Darkside</string> </dict> <dict> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>Mavericks</string> <key>Type</key> <string>OSX</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>Mavericks</string> </dict> </array> </dict> </dict> The only issue we face now is with the Windows entry cause the loader is in another partition (it's on the EFI). We'll need to use the EFI partition's name instead (the one holding the loader), plus the Path cause the partition is shared with Clover's bootloader as well and may add itself while scanning for loaders. <dict> <key>FullTitle</key> <string>Windows 10</string> <key>Type</key> <string>Windows</string> <key>Volume</key> <string>EFI</string> <key>Path</key> <string>\EFI\Microsoft\Boot\bootmgfw.efi</string> </dict> And remember to disable the automatic scan: <key>Scan</key> <dict> <key>Entries</key> <false/> <key>Legacy</key> <false/> <key>Linux</key> <false/> </dict> Edited February 20, 2016 by Maniac10
