es27
Hi, I am in a bit of a sticky situation here. Basically I accedently wiped my mbr on my HD so I know boot into nothing. My Hackintosh is so hard to find resources for it and luckily I have found a perfect kernel and bootloader. My bootloader that if found is: Chameleon r2378 I found it in chameleon wizard when I could boot into osx. All I want to do is boot into it and fix it. However I need your help. I would like someone to make an .ISO (or even dmg) of that chameleon version and send it off. I only have access to a Windows computer so. You can find the version of chameleon in chameleon wizard. Write it to a USB then read it to an iso image. Thanks in advance...

"Yosemite boot support starting from Chameleon revision 2381 (June 2014)" http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/59-chameleon-23-svn/ Try the newer revision. r2401 According to Hervé's post it should boot Yosemite with the legacy kernel Chameleon-r2401.iso.zip

I made progress though. I now have a Still waiting for root device loop thing again. Last time with SL I fixed by changing the boot loader. My main fix however is SuperVIATAA kext. It shows that is has loaded and is working but it still isn't detecting my HD. Thanks for trying. Where are you getting these boot loaders from. I will try as many until I get my beautiful Yosemite back
es27
r2378 was only a temp/unreleased version. The boot files are still available here. Currently using r2401 to boot Yosemite. r2395 worked too. Thanks for that weirdly it didn't work. Rebooted after kernel loaded. I think I need to install it using pkg. Is this possible using terminal in using my snow leopard DVD
Duran Keeley
If you can boot to the installer then you can try use this in terminal sudo installer -pkg pathTo.pkg -target /YourVolume

That didn't work. It said sudo wasn't even a command nor installer not sure if it is because it is snow leopard disk but still. Thanks. I am going to sit down and think about a plan. Feel free to share your thoughts. What I done: I used Windows installer went into command prompt and accedently typed: BOOTFIX /FIXMBR I was really thinking through it until I pressed enter and then I clocked what I had done
es27
If you're able to boot via your DVD, once booted up simply run Chameleon Wizard and in the Install tab, specify your target partition at the bottom, click on Folder on disk button, target your r2378 i386 folder location, select Update then click Install button.Thanks. I meant I can boot into snow leopard installer. However it gave me an idea. I will create a small partition (or use my time machine backups) to install SL onto. I will then go into SL and use Chameleon Wizard to do what I need to then remove SL. Thanks for your help. I will edit if all goes well. Thanks also to Duran Keeley for keeping with me and teaching me something new (knowing what to do with the folder i386!) Edit: I installed osx and after I installed it my old bootloader came back. I didnt even have to go into SL. Cheers
