Hello. I just got my hackintosh working perfectly, but (there's always a but) no sound. In the past I've used VoodooHDA, which I know isn't great, but works fine for me. However when I installed it this time around, nothing happened. I've looked at guides by toleda and I got extremely confused, but I tried to make the most of it. But nothing I do can get this audio to work correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  :) And if you need any more information, just ask.

for alc887 i think is better to use applehda , make you sure you delete voodoohda from system/library/extensions or from clover 10.10 or 10.11 folder before installing applehda , have you tried with this app http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/496-applehda-patcher/ to patch applehda for sound , same way if you are going to install voodoohda you have to delete applehda or use applehda disabler , sometimes when using a video card with hdmi audio , one can get confused because we have to switch between the video card hdmi audio or the board audio from voodoohda panel , same way in system - preference - audio - output , just try with that app first to see if it works. it should , i also forgot to ask , are you using clover? , maybe is just a setting in clover , my neighbor switch to clover and his audio stopped working , even using the same voodoohda kext that he has always use with no problem before , then it turn out it was something in clover , i made 2 test on his system , first i installed chameleon then enoch and in both test the audio started working fine again , using the same voodoohda kext that didn't work for him in clover , you can try this version http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/517-voodoohda-288pkg/ of voodoohda if applehda don't work for you, this is the latest version with support for clover and chameleon depending on your configuration you have to select the install method , there are 3 different ways to install , read first before installing

sometimes resettings the bios can make the audio work again

good luck

if you are in El Capitan and you don't have SIP settings properly configure , a few things can happen like , the kext won't install , the kext won't work or load even after being installed

Yes, I'm using Clover. Which setting did neighbor set?
