skunks
Hello community! I work with computer based on Asus P5Q PRO. 6 years ago I installed retail Mac OS X 10.5.6 according to manual found here. I've installed a lot of (cracked) software since then and don't want to upgrade neither my PC nor Mac OS. Now I've going to create 2nd clone of my computer: buy THE SAME hardware, clone my system HD and I hope that after inserting it into my 2nd computer it will work. So I can have 2nd computer say in another city and when moving I may take only HD with me. But I have several doubts: 1. Will there be any problems with MacOS X on clone computer due to slight hardware changes (CPU ID, different speed etc.). I mean smth like "activation" in Windows. 2. Will there be any problems with other software? I mean maybe I'll have to re-register some of programs every time I move my HD from 1st computer to 2nd and vice versa. Codinger
No! if you use the same CPU model eg. old pc has had an i7 980 the new should have at least an iX XX0 - same generation of CPU Dont know may happen may not. It will be easier for you if you simply install the newest osx as Leopard has no security updates since 2011 Marry Xmas P.S. Take a look here && here
skunks
Thank you, Codinger. Are suggesting Mavericks because it is less hardware-sensitive ? May be that's a good idea, if it is possible to install Mavericks on top of my Leopard. But I have a doubt that my Radeon 3850 will work. Codinger
Yes that is a nother part . Buy a cheap GT 610 and give it a go. Yosemite works good with 4GB plus.
skunks
But what are the implications of absence of security updates? I constantly update my browser.
Mr. Xtreme
Holes in the OS, lack of support by Flash player, Java, severe OS X security problems patched in a more recent OS X version (I would reccomend Yosemite withh 4GB of ram or more and a cheap GT 610).
