2nd Monitor is slowing graphics

I have been using a build I put together several years ago. I am using a video card:

EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512 MB graphics

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard

It has worked pretty well, up to now. I have put on a second monitor and watching videos pixelates badly. I just unplugged the second monitor to test. The problem comes on with the second monitor and leaves with just the one.

Can anyone please tell me if there is a way to overclock this card? Or, what better/newer cards are recommended for this board?

I have not yet upgraded to El Cap, still using Mavericks.

New card requirements: 1) Has to work on my board:

Expansion Slots

PCI Express 2.0 x16  - 2 x PCI Express 2.0 x16

PCI Express x4 -  1 x PCI Express x4

PCI Express x1 -  x PCI Express x1

PCI Slots  - 2 x PCI Slots

2) two DVI outputs for second monitor

3) Hackintosh compatible (obviously)

4) Primarily stressed when using it for photography means looking through lots of photos, editing layers with minimum redraw time. Some video but mostly for watching.

Thanks

Z

COMMENT: Looking at a single EVGA 02G-P4-3753-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Video Card. Researched and apparently a PCI 3 card woks in a PCI 2 slot without noticeable degradation. Opinions on this path? Other better choices? Ongoing thanks.
