Noodlez
Please can anyone advise which GPU will be best suited for an X99 Hackintosh build running Yosemite 10.10.5 which will be used for audio production only / no Gaming. I will be using a Gigabyte X99 UD4 motherboard for this setup and would prefer a GPU that will work out the box with no need for web drivers. I have in mind the EVGA Nvidia GeForce GT 740 SC 2GB? Many thanks Noodlez
aphex6b
660Ti . Cheap, has uefi GOP, and does 4k. Also it always works. in general i do not recommend Maxwell nvidia series for mac os.
mitch_de
Yep, GT 740 can be a good value! I have one and it is good for non gaming, because Kepler gpu it works good. Very low power consumtion! And it has much more OpenCL, CoreImage GPU speed as older Fermi based nividia gpus (like GT 2xx, GT 4xx, GT5xx, GT6xx.) Noodlez
Thank you for your replies, Just wondering are any of you you using an X99 build with the GT 740 or 660Ti and if so did it work straight out the box? Many thanks
mitch_de
I think working/nonworking gpu type is independent from the mainboard / cpu (Intel!) typ. Only AMD cpu users may run in probs with mostly kernel, sometimes driver probs by AMD cpu specific probs.
