Med ben A
hi everyone, this is my first time posting in the forum so i hope that im exposing the topic correctly i have recently installed worksation pro 12.0.1 build-3160714 on Win7 X64 i am trying to run OSX yosmite through ISO image already ran Unlocker 207 succefully. Added smc.version = "0" to the config.ini in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation. when i try to run the v machine i got this error; ================================================== VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vcpu-0) vcpu-0:VERIFY vmcore/vmm/main/physMem_monitor.c:1178 ==================================================== i tried to repatch vmware to the default via win-uninstall then remove the machine, then patch again after that recreate again the virtual machine and i have the same error few seconds after the start up. VT-X (Hardware Virtualisation) is ON ; i ran already W 2008 R2 and W2012 R2 with no issue. sure i miss something but don't know where i saw in many posts adding smc.version = "0" in vmx file but didn't find that file, doing what i described above is it correct ? Any ideas ? i was tring to upload the log in txt format but the site reject it and display that im not permitted to upload this kind of file thanks in advance for your help
LuXs
what cpu do you have? AMD or Intel? No the only thing needed to do is: run unlocker, add smc.version = "0" and that should be it and of course run a "patched"dmg of yosemite so its bootable in vmware.Do you have a bootable version of yosemite that works with vmware?Mavericks, yosemite and el capitan needs a bootable dmg. Then add the smc line. If you are using VMware Player or Workstation on Windows you may get a core dump. Latest Linux and ESXi products are OK and do not show this problem. +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ | IMPORTANT: | | ========== | | | | If you create a new VM using version 11 or 12 hardware VMware may stop and | | create a core dump. There are two options to work around this issue: | | | | 1. Change the VM to be HW 10 - this does not affect performance. | | 2. Edit the VMX file and add: | | smc.version = "0" | | | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Med ben A
thanks for your reply, i found the Vmx file and add the smc line as deescribed, but i still have the same error VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vcpu-0) vcpu-0:VERIFY vmcore/vmm/main/physMem_monitor.c:1178
LuXs
the downloaded iso wont work since you need to modifie it to make it bootable.you then need real mac to make it or get a dmg/iso of a version of os x before mavericks

trentfox
I have a similar problem as Med ben A, except that I am running my vm on Workstation Player 12 in Ubuntu 15.10 on a Dell 7010 and I don't know how to get verbose output upon startup to know where the problem is. When I create a new machine, add the smc.version = "0" to the newly created vm, and then try to install Yosemite from a DMG file, the installer starts up but freezes about 1/4 of the way. When I create a vm on my Mac mini running Ubuntu 15.10, it runs OK. When I transfer that vm to the Dell and run it from a suspended state it runs OK. But if I then try to restart it on the Dell, it hangs about a minute after the Apple menu appears. This happens even after I have edited the vmx and added smc.version = "0" to it, and it happens whether the vm is Snow Leopard, Mavericks or Yosemite (all of which run OK on my Mac mini running Ubuntu 15.10). My version of Player on both the mini and the Dell have been patched with Unlocker 2.0.7. Is there something else I have to do to the VMX file to get it to pass the "Mac test" and start up on the Dell PC?

Try using 2.0.8.
