QUESTION

Ok i've got the combo update  and the Package 10.10.4

Now I'm fine with installing the combo update and installing the 3 .kext files that are in the Package 10.10.4 folder (using the kext wizard) my problem is replacing the kernel.  I don't see any kernel in my Yosemite installation. I have a cache kernel in my Mavericks installation which I guess it's the same thing but in my Yosemite installation there is not kernel so how do I replace it with the old one. Where is the old one.

Please help me

The only thing in my System/Library/Kernels is kernel.backup

I tried all those boot flags, still doesn't work

Besides -x is safe mode

In fact since I installed Yosemite 10.10.1 I've had to use USBLegacyOff=Yes npci=0x3000 and -f  Of course the -x is just safe mode and -v is just verbose mode so does don't really matter that much, there more for solving problems

Tried rebooting again using all the flags you suggested got the same sreen shot I posted except this time there was 1 more line that said "Resetting IOCatalogue" and then it stuck.-x is not allowing me to boot.I installed Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 (Hackintosh Zone) in a memory stick an on a drive several times it always worked with only a few issues that I'm not concerned about right now. I tried to update to 10.10.4 using an updater from Hackintosh Zone which is 3 .kext files and 1 kernel.I installed the 10.10.4 Combo Update, installed the 3 .kext files using a kext wizard and replaced the kernel. Since then I've not been able to boot.Installed Operating Systems: Windows 10 - Yosemite 10.10.1CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240 Motherboard: MSI K9N6PGM2-V2 RAM: 3GB DDR2 Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT9500 GT 1GBHDD: 320GB Hitachi - 120GB Crucial SSD - 160GB WD WiFi: Netgear N300 (WNA3100M) LAN: Realtek ALC883 Other: USB Bluetooth - USB Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

I just noticed that you're running 10.10.5 so maybe that's what I should be looking to update to instead of 10.10.4

Start again with a retail install. Distros will cause problems and this is a prime example. You can try to simply install the 10.10.5 combo from Apple over it but some issues may arise.

After the update it won't boot so you reinstate the AMD kernel using your Windows partition with a tool like Transmac.

What kexts files have you been replacing and what kernel have you used?

I am running another 10.10.1 which is what I'm using right now.  I can try updating to 10.10.5 as I've already downloaded the 10.10.5 combo from Apple and got 10.10.5_SSEPlus_V3.zip from this site which I see is only a kernel. I got a Package 10.10.4 from Hackintosh Zone which has 3 kexts AppleACPIPlatform.kext, IOPCIFamily.kext and pthread.kext It also includes a kernel which is the one I used.

I wouldn't know how to install a combo update or anything else for that matter on a partition that doesn't boot

Actually I thought about it and even tried it, I'm installing the combo update 10.10.5 in my partition that won't boot. I typed to fast before thinking about it as I had never done it before.

Update: my 10.10.5 Update Combo just failed. "The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." So I guess I should try to install it on this drive 10.10.1

Your best option is to start fresh to be honest. Get your self a Vanilla copy of the Yosemite installer from the App Store if you've previously downloaded it. Distros cause these problems. I had similar problems when I first started this now I only use Apple Installers. Make the installer using one of the many tutorials here and replace the kernel with this one and try install.

Good news I'm running 10.10.5 worked, in fact I'm running it right now.  Just had to run the 10.10.5 combo and then replace my kernel with the one you supplied. Thanks you.  Let me know when you decide to upgrade to El Capitan, maybe we can help each other.
