Hi everyone!

I am involved in video production and was using a windows ecosystem (Adobe premiere etc) but have recently been asked to move to Final Cut X for some new projects. I am only vaguely familiar with macs as we had them at work but I did not focus on much there besides Final Cut.

Right now, the decision before me is:

1. Either install mac OS on my Lenovo W520 workstation latop.

i7 2820QM, 24 gb ram, 180p display

1 x msata (240gb with win 8. I hope to dual boot mac OS off of this drive)
1 x 650 gb hdd with an old install of win 7 on it
1 x 320 gb hdd in ultrabay.
bios 1.34

Or on my desktop:

i7 4790, 16gb ram,

Asrock extreme 6  z97 motherboard,

gtx 970

multiple harddrves (no SSD, desktop mostly used for occassional rendering but mostly gaming)

I would prefer to also get mac os running off the laptop in eithr way, and was hoping for an updated guide for it. Some useful links I came accross are:

- There is a proper guide by one of the forum members from here on another forum.

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/273621-guide-os-x-lion-on-thinkpad-w520/

But its from 2011 and I'm not sure how much has changed since then, also there seems to be some issue between InsnanelyMac forums and tonymacx86 where the former does not endorse or allow links to tools from the latter. So the knowledge base is divided between the two.

- Another dude seems to have gotten the W520 to function exactly as I hope to have it function in Mac OS. I have PM'ed him and waiting for a response but he has not been active on the forum since June.

I would also greatly appreciate if someone could share their experiences of working with software like Final Cut X on hackintoshes.

Also, some basic reading material to help me get started a bit quicker would be very appreciated as well.

Much thanks in advance.
