Hi All,

Could someone please point me to where I may find an official "Install OS X Yosemite.app" 10.10.5 installer? The one I need for performing uni-you-know-what/Clover install. Due to my current system state and existing application requirements, I can't and don't want upgrade to El Capitan via App Store and seems Apple knows what's best for me and only gives me the option to download/Install "El Capitan" as the desired OS was removed from the App Store.

Thanks for any assistance and sorry if I broke any forum rules in my questioning.

Thanks for the input... But in this day and age, I would think there would be some method of getting the install from the massive Internet content available. All I was able to find is 10.10.5 version of InstallESD.dmg which doesn't appear to be useful, or is it for my needs?

Well, the InstallESD.dmg is the key really. You could download the El Cap installer from the store and swap out the dmgs and see if it will let you install Yosemite. At the very it that should let you build an installer USB with the createinstallmedia command.

Use disk utility to write that image to an USB stick, boot from it and install. Should be ok, but be cautious - the image might be tampered with.

I still have the Install OS X Yosemite.app, but I think it'll install 10.10.0 as it's dated 18.10.2014.

Ah, That is a good suggestion. I'll try that. Thanks!

This sounds easier. I then could make a Clover bootloader on top of the USB stick, correct?

Thanks for both of your replies.

  • 5 months later...

If you've downloaded Yosemite in the past you should be able to get to it from your Purchases history in the Mac App Store.

If you haven't I think you're out of luck. The store only allows you to "buy" the current version of OS X.

If so, I should download a version of MAC OS X when it is the current version. Later, I can re-download it later.

Yes, even if you don't plan to use it now, you should download it just to have it in App Store's Purchased Items for future use.

That's the mistake I've made with Mavericks...
