spamnchips
I had an update message today when I logged into my virtual Mac telling me that El Capitan was available. I chose install and left it too do its own thing. On restart I shut down Vmware Workstation 11 and ran Unlocker 2 and restarted Workstation and the virtual Mac. It took about an hour overall but everything works.

Congratulations, glad the process was straight forward, if you were already running the unlocker no need to re-install, it only needs re-installing after a workstation update. In Workstation 12 the install VMware Tools works from the menu, but not in Workstation 11, so you will need to install the latest VMware Tools (8.0.1) manually.
