BigJT
Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has installed El Cap on a similar system to mine, and a) did you have to do anything special what works and what doesn't post install? The reason I ask is this is my main system and I have it running perfectly in Yosemite with Clover. Of course I will be backing up, etc but can't afford to be without a system for too long, so I'd like to avoid some pitfalls from other's experience if possible. Spec: Clover EFI boot on: Asus Z97 Deluxe, I7 4790K, GTX760 ThanksBiGJ
rev4turbomonster
If you are using clover you can do the upgrade rather than a clean install. Only thing not working on mine that was before with yosemite is sleep. If you have done the upgrade and have managed to keep your sleep working let me know how lol. randomusername00
The ASMedia USB3 is not going to work, and will actually cause kernel panics on boot. You're going to want to disable the controller in the BIOS. On the other hand, the Intel ports seem to work for me, after some tampering with the Dummy USB kext approach. I did an upgrade from Yosemite via the App Store. I get working sleep, WiFi 5GHz, Bluetooth (no handoff/continuity), via custom kexts installed in Clover: AppleHDA BrcmPatchRAM2 FakeSMC (obviously) IntelMausiEthernet WifiInjector bcm4352 nVidia web drivers work just fine - actually even better than on Yosemite Hope this helps Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone has installed El Cap on a similar system to mine, and a) did you have to do anything special what works and what doesn't post install? ken394
I did both a update and a clean install, both went smooth with just having to redo audio on both and trim on the clean install. The USB 3 issue can be fixed with guides here in the forums, not hard just time consuming. Same board+GTX 970. Everything seems to be working..do have a quirk with handoff in that I open app on phone it shows on IMAC dock but open same app on IMAC not showing on phone. This is not happening on my Yosemite drive on same computer.
randomusername00
"USB3 issue" meaning the Intel USB3, or the ASMedia? Because I was under the impression that nothing can be done for the ASMedia controller for now As for handoff, how did you get it to work? BigJT
Awesome stuff guys. Getting ready to make the jump here, doesn't sound too scary. In theory I should be able to take my current clover yosemite rig, and just straight upgrade.... Has anyone actually got USB 3 working on this rig? Anything else that works or doesn't? What about the ThunderboltEXII card? Any experiences with that? Thanks!! The ASMedia USB3 is not going to work, and will actually cause kernel panics on boot. Now the question is gonna be if rampage's new SSDT is going to do the same in Cap...
Skoocha
Hello i was unable to get this board running properly with my video card on Yosemite so i took the plunge to El Capitan and it worked ! i used clover and the ssdt from rampage , still need to extract my own... the motherboard is running the latest BIOS which is 2702 at the time Asus Z97 Deluxe EVGA GTX 950 SCC Intel 470K / 32 GB of Ram / 500 GB SSD EVO ThunderboltEXII card The GTX 950 , works well both on HDMI and Display Port on a samsung 4k monitor at 60 hz but the nvidia web drivers is not selected and always show OS X default , is that a bug ? as for the usb 3 it still seems a bit unstable , but i'll keep on testing in Clover configurator i only left nvda_drv=1 checked once i had the nvidia web drivers i also checked Macpro 3.1 in the smbios , it seems that i was unable to boot withe Imac Retina smbios is that due to my maxwell video card ? Thunderbolt works great with my Focusrite Clarett 8pre audio interface and with my Lacie drive i installed windows 10 on another drive and loaded the drivers that way , still no hot swap... Wifi seems to be working great , using the AsusBCM20702A0Bluetooth.kext i applied the 5 GHZ patch as well Bluetooth seems to be working ok using the BT FirmwareUploader kext as for audio i'm a newbie and still haven't figured how to properly use the Toleda patch can anyone recommend a simple method to get it working ? also when i get into OS X , the loading transport bar migrates alone to the bottom left of the screen for the final part is that another bug from the nvidia drivers ? i'll join my config.plist if someone can help me and let me know if you have Thunderbolt questions Thanks ! Allan
SMBIOS of iMac14,2 is great for me. I had a Asus Z97 and i7 4790K. For audio i use and work like a charm this tool: New AppleHDA Patcher The audio codec of this board is ALC1150. IMHO, OS X Yosemite is better on this board, all the USB 3 has working in total speed.
