Hi,

I can successfully boot the El Capitan installer and can get to the screen where it says "Welcome to OS X". The only problem is that I can't move my USB mouse or my trackpad and get the cursor to move with it. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is happening? As far as I can tell the keyboard isn't working either.

Try to plug another USB port.

On some Hw with Osx El Capitan, USB are not full functional.

Btw post your Hw, and what bootloader are you using, to get more help

I tried other USB ports but neither the USB mouse or the integrated trackpad and keyboard responded. I also patched my DSDT with the rename patch for USB3. Sorry - I forgot to add my hardware: i5-4210U, 16GB RAM, Clover UEFI, all in an Acer V3-572PG

Hi all,

Adding to the USB problems on El Capitan on Unsupported Mac issue. I am sure that this is all the buzz, but have successfully loaded 10.11 El Capitan on an older 2,1 MacPro. Boots fine and into the Welcome/Account set up such as was mentioned above. Tried different ports and all, no luck. The mouse and keyboard work upon initial boot when selecting the startup disk, but after loading, I can get the mouse to work, but the keyboard doesn't no matter what I do. Swapped USB ports between the two. Restarted a dozen times.

I can provide config info if requested. Seems that at each step is a new problem to overcome. Thanks for any advice on checking or configuring Clover or anything else. Good luck!

Hi again

I read the latest on Piker Alpha's blog, went to the guide, then ended up running the Clover fix and used the DummyUSBEHCIPCI kext, then rebooted a couple of times and now I have USB. Not exactly sure what did it as I was multitasking.

The front USB does not work, but I'll live with only back two ports. Not sure if this made any difference but I added my 2,1 to the list of personalities in the info.plist too.

Now I have El Capitan on my 2,1 and peace and freedom is restored to the galaxy. Or at least my obsession for the moment until I feel ambitious to tackle the BT and Airport.

Tremendous thanks to Piker Alpha (Very sorry to read about your sister--all the best to you and your family), pokenguyen, stinga111, VCH888 and all the rest for the fantastic work gone into this.  Will now have time to send that donation in that I've been meaning to. Take a look at your handy work guys... and good luck.

You say you used the clover fix. Would you be able to direct me to it? I looked at the thread and couldn't see it - all I could see that may have been relevant were the dummy kexts, using the pike r alpha method of kext patching. Thanks in advance.

Hi

I took the dummy kext and renamed it to AppleUSBEHCIPCI.kext, opened the contents all the way to the info.plist and is where I added the personality. I then installed it from there. Here's what I used...

I'm also finding that upon restart my mouse and keyboard won't always work. I must reinsert the mouse and keyboard in to my back USB ports and then they'll work. I realize that most of my so called help is anecdotal but getting it to work for me was priority one, then I can refine from there.

InfoDOTplist in XML.zip

Interesting... I'll give this a go and update with the results. I hope I can at least get a USB keyboard and mouse working so I can install El Cap.

I have been trying to create an injector but I'm not having much luck. Does anyone have any PS2 mouse and keyboard kexts that might work for the integrated keyboard and mouse?

Use legacy Clover BiosBlockIO and your PS2 mouse and keyboard will work.

But when you came to registration of installed OSX they will not work. Only USB keyboard is possible at this moment no matter what you may do.
