I'm a Mac and Hackintosh newbie, I would like to install Mac OS X  on an old (Dell Optiplex 755 SFF / C2D 2.66GHZ / 4GB RAM / 320GB HD)I picked up.

where do i start ?

I’ve got 3 of the following low profile cards lying around.

  • SAPPHIRE RADEON HD4550 512MB GDDR3
  • ATI Radeon HD5450 (from HP Pavilion Slimline s5311uk )
  • SAPPHIRE RADEON HD5450 DDR3

Which of the above would be best suited for this project ?

Thanks in advance !!

You can't install drivers for Radeon cards, injecting device ID is key to get them working: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/287016-working-ati-cards-with-amd-and-mountain-lionlion-64-bit/

And now is the great time to ditch you install and postinstal method and make vanilla USB for your Dell.

It's much cleaner and better, and you couldn't pick better old PC for getting into those things.

Then you'll learn what fix is required for ethernet, sound, cmos reset, enabling graphics and so on...

People here, myself included, are here to help, but with tony's method you should ask for help on their forum.

Cheers!
