El Capitan on Mid 2009 Macbook Pro - USB 3.0 Expresscard Not Working - Need Help

Hello,

I need help with getting my USB 3.0 Expresscard working. It is a 4 port hub based on the Fresco Logic FL1100 chipset and works perfectly in Yosemite.

I did a clean install of the El Capitan 10.11 GM Candidate and now no matter what I have tried I can't get the card to work (the system recognizes it, but hard drives won't mount)

The card is this one: http://www.amazon.com/ExpressCard-Express-Adapter-Converter-5-0Gbps/dp/B008XUFJIM/ref=sr_1_34?ie=UTF8&qid=1442164101&sr=8-34&keywords=usb+3.0+expresscard

I think the solution is to be found in either AppleUSBEHCIPCI.kext and AppleUSBXHCIPCI.kext inside IOUSBHostFamily.kext - and if I am correct, I think the only relevant one is AppleUSBXHCIPCI.kext because that is the one that includes instructions for USB 3.0. I have looked in the kext and see no mention of MacbookPro5,2 in the info.plist..

**EDIT** I figured that the MacbookPro5,2 is not listed because that model doesn't come with the built-in USB 3.0 ports.. need to know where this model recognizes the express card/USB 3.0

Can someone please help me with this? I know that it is possible!

Thanks!

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but very interested in the outcome.  In case you have not seen this there is an expresscard for usb3 that supposedly works natively in EC.  I can't imagine why this would work and not your FL 1100.  I asked the seller which chipset is in the card, perhaps the answer would be of interest?

EDIT: Here is the response from the ebay seller:

Hello, it's ASMedia chipset, same as the Highpoint Rocket USB 3.0 using one, 100% compatible & working well with OSX , El Capitan 10.11 as Well, Regards
