marcnw
Hello everyone, I'm new to the PC building world so please be gentle. Especially if this isn't the place to post something like this. Before I start here is a list of my setup: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor MSI 970 GAMING ATX AM3+ Motherboard Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply So here's my situation. After I finished building I probably spent the past 4 days attempting to install OSX Mavericks onto my PC. At first I followed the ##### method to which i found that some of my parts(I think my motherboard) just wasn't compatible. So yesterday I was doing some research and found that Niresh can make most machines work with OSX. So i've been doing that ever since a day or two ago. If its any help this is the tutorial I followed in guiding me to install the OSX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuGZrgSYuDY (Everything went smoothly for me up till 8:45 into the video) So my current problem is getting the computer to boot without the USB OSX Install. Again, everything was going smoothly for me until 8:45 in the above tutorial. I understand that AMD Processors need to be booted through Chameleon, and I have Chameleon on a separate USB Drive but every time I boot it with the Chameleon USB Drive I will be stuck on the apple loading screen for all eternity. And every time I try and boot from the HDD without the USB Drive I get the following: boot0: GPT boot0: GPT boot0: error I assume that the above just means that it can't be booted since I dont have the Chameleon USB drive plugged into the computer anymore... But at this point I really don't know what should be my next step in solving this problem. Is there something wrong with my installation? Did I not install Chameleon right? Is there a way to install Chameleon while I partition the HDD for OSX? That way Chameleon is on the HDD when I boot the computer. What are your guy's thoughts, suggestions, or fixes? Is a Hackintosh even possible for me at this point? Also I'm wondering if I should just start from the very beginning again and try following this installation guide: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298027-guide-aio-guides-for-hackintosh/ thoughts? Any help is greatly appreciated!

I got really excited haha, but now it's stuck on the apple logo loading screen and the spinning wheel freezes. Any idea what i'm to do? Ive been waiting for maybe over an hour already. owbp
Boot it with -v -f flags. Take a picture of screen where it hangs and post it here. With -v you'll enter verbose mode (instead of apple logo). That way you can see what is the problem.

marcnw
Edit: The only solution i found for the [iOBluetootHCIController][start] -- completed is here but none of the problems apply to me. Should I try booting into safe mode and verbose though? Here's the screen it gets stuck on:
TheRacerMaster
That means it's getting stuck right before graphics is supposed to init. You need to boot with nv_disable=1 since you have a GTX 960 that does not work in OS X with the default drivers (you need to install the NVIDIA Web Drivers once you get OS X installed and running).
marcnw
Wow! I cannot begin to thank you guys for all the help! I was honestly at wits end with this whole Hackintosh process. So now I have Mavericks booting up properly and loading, the only thing is installing the NVIDIA Web Drivers I guess. Very noob question I guess but how will I go about optimizing my graphics card with the OSX? Do I use the dvd that came with the graphics card initially? Because every time I out in the dvd that came with the Graphics card I get ".exe" files so im assuming it wasn't meant to be installed through OSX. So how will I optimize my drive? And what exactly is, and how do i find the right web driver for my specific graphics card? I hope this is my last questions haha, I feel like im starting to annoy you guys. All that's left of me is to install chameleon onto the partition and additional kext to have the my PC running smoothly, which I actually have a friend who can help me with that. Thanks again for all the help!
owbp
Got to Apple Logo (in toolbar), then About This Mac and then More Info... Copy the number that is in the brackets next to OS X 10.9.x (this number) and search it with nvidia web driver. In my case it says: Software OS X 10.9.5 (13F1112) So i will search for: nvidia web driver 13f1112 Download that driver and install it on your pc. Then you have to boot with nvda_drv=1 or add that boot flag to you org.chameleon.boot.plist.
marcnw
Okay, so i've been searching for a good while and I found nothing specific for my OSX number which was 13A603. But I did find this link to this CUDA driver here. Is this the web driver that I need for my drive or am I suppose to be looking for something else? Because this was the only driver that said it was for Mac OSX and the 7.0.64 version was compatible with 10.9.x which I assumed would be compatible with my version of OSX. Did I just make a noob mistake or am I okay so far?
mendietinha
go for it mate. Sometimes it is a trial and error thing. dont worry.
marcnw
Alrighty, so I did some more searching and no, the 7.0.64 is not the web driver haha. But anyways, I found that there wasn't an option for a nvidia web driver for my version of OSX (13A603). So I had to upgrade to 10.9.5 (13F34), again following the upgrade process of this installation tutorial (if that's any help, the upgrade process starts at 11:18). Afterwards, I upgraded versions of kexts and the other instructions in that video. And so now all that's left is to optimize my graphics card with the Nvidia web package (334.01.03f01). Well I did so. And after it restarts, it will not boot with the boot flag nvda_drv=1. So i tried booting it again with the nv_disable=1 and again it would not boot. Both just cause the computer to restart. The only boot flags that will allow me to login is: amd -f -x nv_disable=1 -v I believe the amd -f -x is only because I was not able to successfully install some of the Patched AMD Kernel for the 10.9.5 combo update because i kept getting a "no such file or directory" error. So i'm probably gonna have to go in and replace those files manually. Anyways my bigger concern is getting my graphics card to be optimized. Anyone know why? Because when I load my OSX and check System Preferences, the Driver Manager is installed but when I click it, it tells me "Unable to open the NVIDIA Driver manager." I have a hunch, but I guess i'll come to you guys to double check me. When I was looking for the web packages I came across this: Does this mean the only way to optimize my graphics card is to upgrade to Yosemite..... I'm hoping that's not the answer. But if it's the only option I guess i'll have to do it. Again thanks for the patience guys. I have come across several forums and by far you all are the best on being noob friendly haha. Hopefully all my struggling will help people with similar problems in the future. Much love!
Dmos
Very long explanation and its good for fix issues. First of all you have and amd system,so lot depends on amd kernel and some of GPU bugs comes of kernels. You need to use right kernel that works on your system. 2nd your installation method is kinda tricky. find out what kernel ur using for nvidia driver try this... http://www.hackintoshosx.com/topic/22774-nvidia-graphics-web-drivers-installation-guide/?p=119821

TheRacerMaster
Unfortunately I don't think the Mavericks Web Drivers have any support for Maxwell GPUs, so you will probably have to update to Yosemite.
