Hi InsanelyMac. I'm a daily Mac user since my work laptop is a Macbook Pro. Back at home I have a desktop computer, which is a modified HP Pavilion Elite M9580SC-A. The way it's modified is that I putted in a new motherboard since the old one died, and also i threw a GTX260 in there to boost the perfomance. The new motherboard is an Intel Desktop Board DG41TY.

So the current specs are the following:

4GB of HP DDR2 RAM @ 400 MHZ

Intel DG41TY Motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300

Nvidia GTX260 896MB

1TB Harddrive

Windows 7 Ultimate

And I would love to have OSX running on there, so if someone could tell me something about how I'm gonna go about this, and how it's done. I've seen that there is 2 choices which is either a real OSX installation or using a Distro, and I'm not sure which one is the smartest choice for me. So what I'm asking is:

Is my computer capable of running OSX without a lot of problems? (Internet, Graphics etc)

Distro or a real installation, and if we're talking distro, what am I going to choose when installing, and if we're talking the real installation, how is it done?

Thanks.

Using an Intel motherboard will probably necessitate you to generate a DSDT. This because you need to make your Hackintosh look like an Apple product. Then, you need to use a retail (downloaded from the app store) MacOS version. You would greatly benefit from using a Mac computer running at least Mavericks to make the bootable USB loader and use Clover boot loader as it makes your computer boot most like the Apple boot process.

I am guessing this Intel motherboard is BIOS only bootable? That can complicate things a bit, You could choose to use Chameleon boot loader but that will most likely un-allow you to download any MacOS from the Apple App Store.

I believe it's dooable with the right combination of support things.
