trimforce

Hi All,

Just updated successfully to 10.10.4 final and - as usual - trim enabler came up with the alarm that trim was not enabled.

Instead of running the tool, this time I wanted to use the new trim force command. I ran it form the terminal and proceeded with the reboot.

Still, trim enabler came up with the waring that trim was not enabled, however, a look into the system info showed that trim support was enabled for the SSD.

Now I was confused.

Ran trim enabler and did another reboot.

Now the alarm was gone, the tool confirms trim is enabled, as well as system info.

At the end, it's not really a problem now anymore, but I thought I might as well mention it here to read about other opinions/experiences?

From everything I have read, Trim Enabler does exactly the same thing as trimforce – activates Apple's internal TRIM routine, just in a different way. My guess would be that Trim Enabler checks the kext to be patched, finds it unpatched and throws its toys out of the pram. If your About This Mac > System Report > SATA/SATA Express says "TRIM Support: Yes" after running sudo trimforce enable, you don't need Trim Enabler anymore.
