HD4600 desktop colored static fixes kill sound

On a GA-Z97-HD3 (ALC887) with an i3 4379 (HD 4600 intel graphics) using an iMac14,2 profile I can either have functioning audio from the green jack or get rid of the boot/login time colorful static / screen garble / fuzzyness on my monitor using a DVI cable. Sound is killed by any patches to AppleIntelFramebufferAzul or changes to ig-platform-id from 0x0D220003 to something else. The sound controls still function (just no audio), everything looks OK in the system report, and DPCI manager shows Realtek ALC888B for the codec (same as before).

 

Adding the Clover Patches Bootloader Graphics - Second Stage Patch and 10.10-Azul-Port_0x6-DP2HDMI to EFI get a nice looking boot-up, otherwise I get static or distortion once the mouse becomes available (second stage?). There is still static when waking from sleep but it fixes itself without having to cycle the monitor's power.

 

Of note, changing the platform ID to 0C260000 (prior to patching) didn't stop the static completely, but at least it went away on it's own without having to cycle the monitor's power. It also killed the audio same as now with the patches.

 

Can anyone recommend a solution to fix the audio? The boot sequence looks really nasty without those two clover patches. Also any suggestions on eliminating the static on wake from sleep?

Well from your description it seems only on boot/wake from sleep so is it really mission critical to not see that static to have no sound. I get that every once and a while on my spare machine while in the desktop it is fairly easy to turn the power on and off to get rid of it. Not much help in solving the issue I know but as Clint said a man has got to know his limitations this applies to your computing life as well if you want perfection time to pony up the mega bucks and buy Mac, even then no guarantees on it just look at all the forums dedicated to Mac hardware issues...
