User interface and compatibility issues

Hi guys.

I haven't been on the hackintosh scene for a very long time, mainly because I don't like (very big understatement) Yosemite and its terrible UI design. However, I saw that the Mac App Store had updates for iWork and Xcode, which I use relatively frequently, but they were incompatible with Mavericks. Also, Office 2016 for Mac only works on Yosemite. I am thus forced to update, because of Apple's genius idea of removing support from OSes they released barely two years ago.

I've got several questions.

  1. I don't like Yosemite's icon set. How do I replace all app and folder icons with those from Mavericks?
  2. Is there any way to change the default font from Helvetica Neue? Perhaps back to Lucida Grande?
  3. I'm currently booting with *that monstrous* fork of Chameleon. My notebook is 100% UEFI capable. What are the benefits and drawbacks of using Clover instead?
  4. Is a clean install necessary? My OS X install is extremely clean so far - I have barely 5 third-party apps (Illustrator, GIMP and such).
  5. Is there any way to make those incompatible apps somehow run on Mavericks? I really don't want to upgrade if I can help it. I currently like everything about Mavericks and Apple blew it to pieces with Yosemite.

Thanks in advance.

P. S. Please note: I do not intend to start a Mavericks vs. Yosemite flame war, or a flame war of any sort. The opinions above are my own and I hope they are respected, whatever yours might be. Please give constructive replies - any trolls will be reported.

i had done no clean install when i switched to clover

at the beginning clover seem's more complicated as chamelion ... but i think its easier

when you use the cloverconfigurator.

you can test ist with a clover usb stick installation.
