How to enable Power Nap

31 posts in this topic

My hacks will reboot automatically after several hours of sleep if I turn on Power Nap. The hack just reboots when the wake by RTC happens.

As you can see, the wake at 5:15 and 10:36 are missing because the hack reboots automatically at those two time.

5/15/15 1:12:48.000 AM kernel[0]: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)

Just try use this option to solve your problem, for you use Power Nap:

5/15/15 9:36:29.000 AM kernel[0]: Wake reason: RTC (Alarm)

If you want, of course.

Thanks. What does Power Nap look like?

Does Power Nap wake the computer every hour that the fan gets power on, and the power light gets on?

A detail console record is at here, http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-desktop-support/163801-power-nap-panic-hack-reboots-during-sleep.html

Somebody suggested me to uncheck the boot flag of darkwake=1,10.

Now I have done this suggestion and rebooted my hack. I saw that every hour after falling asleep the hack's fan would power on. So it is not likely a power nap since the apple says the fan should be off. What's your idea?

Note that my hack has two hard drives, one of 120GB SSD and the other of 1TB SATA HDD.

Run this command in Terminal, and put the result here:

pmset -g | grep hibernatemode

Thanks for your reply, Allan

Try change the hibernate mode to 3, and use Slide=0/or any value.

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3

And try use OsxAptioFixDrv-64.efi, or use OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi

1st, I currently is using OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi

2nd, it's a desktop hack, not a laptop hack. I changed the hibernatemode from 3 to 0 couple of days ago. Please check the config.plist file.

Waking at every hour is indeed Power Nap, Apple says fans stay off for SUPPORTED models. Not sure if Hacks are supported. :)

Yep, the Apple says during Power Nap the Mac should be silent, if the Mac uses a SSD drive. My OS X is installed on the SSD drive while I have another HDD drive to store data.

I search the Internet but I did not find some useful guide for enabling Power Nap on a hack.

I believe I had enable the native power management. There is a guide on Tonmymacx86 where there is a tool to generate the SSDT.aml file. Then I put the generated SSDT.aml file into the Clover/ACPI directory.

I don't know which boot argument of darkwake I should use. At present my smbios is iMac 14,2.

In accordance with this result:

5/15/15 12:36:30.000 PM kernel[0]: Wake reason: XHC

You should apply a patch for USB3 in DSDT.

This wake is made by me. I just moved the mouse and the hack woke up and there was a record in the console, the XHC.

These values have nothing to do with what I showed!

You really need fix your power management, like USB ports in DSDT, and another patches.

Proof:

5/21/15 12:17:37.000 AM kernel[0]: Wake reason: XHC
