HP ZBook 17 with Nvidia quadro k610m Yosemite 10.10.2 / Clover

Hi everyone! This is my first post here, so bare with me  :)

So I've recently purchased a HP ZBook with the following graphics-related specs:

-Intel i7 4900mq with HD 4600 graphics

-Nvidia K610M dGPU with 1GB VRAM

-internal 17" display with 1600x900

-(external) display connectors: Thunderbolt, DP, VGA

-in theory you can drive up to 5 independent displays with it when using hybrid graphics and an extended docking station (internal, TB, 2x DP/DVI, VGA)

My goal: Getting both, the internal screen and an external DP monitor to work

Starting out:

I've used NGUYEN's ProBook Clover install method to get (almost) everything working. This method works great with Intel HD 4600 graphics and the internal display. HOWEVER I'm unable to get an external display to work with it that I have connected to the DP. I've tried all the different ig platform ids but none of them worked. This leads me to believe that the DP connection might be hard-wired to the dGPU.

If I have missed something so far or if you have different ideas, please let me know.

BIOS:

The interesting thing in the ZBook BIOS is that you have the choice to turn Hybrid Graphics on/off/auto, meaning that Intel HD graphics can actually be turned off! This would open the door for actually using the dGPU without getting into the dreaded "Nvidia Optimus" mode which doesn't work in OS X.

What I have tested so far:

Since my system is working well at the moment with HD 4600 graphics (BIOS=Hybrid Graphics enabled/auto), I prepared a USB stick with Clover for testing.

-On the USB I deleted all references to HD graphics in my Clover config: ig platform id, inject intel, fake ID for IntelGFX. Instead I've turned "inject Nvidia" on.

-Furthermore, I removed the DSDT and I'm only using a SSDT for processor speedstep.

When trying to boot with Hybrid Graphics disabled (=Intel graphics off) OS X hangs on "AGPM Controller unknown platform". I'm sure that I still need more edits in my config and most likely in my dsdt.

Any help and constructive comments are deeply appreciated!

As I've stated above, I can't disable the nvidia card in BIOS. I can only turn Intel graphics on/off. Besides, that's not what I'm trying to do. I'm trying to get the nvidia card to work under OS X.

Try removing the current DSDT.aml, InjectNvidia=False first. Many HP workstation laptops with Nvidia GPU suffer from this, so if injection with bootloader or native drivers didn't work, you will have to make your own DSDT to let OS X recognize the Nvidia GPU correctly

Hi Vesun123, thanks for your help!

Getting the same "AGPM Controller unknown platform" line without DSDT and InjectNvidia=False. Where would I start with injecting the Nvidia GPU into DSDT?

Alot hella work to get it right. First you need nv_disable=1 to boot without QE, then get an IOReg, get someone here to help patching the DSDT ( mostly getting the LVDS working first )
