USB Apple Keyboard Hanging bios?

So after many days of research and with the wonderful help of this forum I have a fully working Yosemite install. Except my Apple keyboard hangs my bios at the splash screen. It's a new one, aluminum with usb ports on it and all that. I have tried turning on/off legacy in bios, turned off boot from usb, tried ALL USB ports. Not many options for usb in my bios. I'm assuming it has something to with the USB ports on the keyboard itself? I was going to try to get a powered usb hub when I get a chance to go get one. Heard that may work. Anyone have any ideas? Please and thank you :-)

Specs:

Intel DH55tc mobo

i3 540 3.06

8G RAM

Yosemite

Ok, so if someone out there has this problem it's due to the USB ports on an Apple KB. I got a small powered hub to go between mobo usb port and keyboard. Works like a champ. Now Avid or someone needs to come up with an Mbox driver for Yosemite. I have to unplug the thing and plug it back in for Yosemite to see it. Same BS on my actual Macbook. So annoying.

I've had similar issues with mine. A powered USB hub solves the underpowering issue (failing to detect the device itself) and setting UEFI/Fast Boot to USB: Full Initial solves hanging/failing to detect devices plugged into the KB (e.g Logitech Unifying receiver).

It's worsened greatly if I use the Apple keyboard extension cable.

Same here on the extension cable. "UEFI/Fast Boot to USB"? So you enabled UEFI? And what is Fast boot? Not sure I have that option (fast boot) in my bios. I'm currently not booting UEFI. My mobo was one of the first with UEFI and it gave a lot of problems. So far this machine has ZERO issues and run Pro Tools, Logic X, Presonus S1, and all my plugins really really well.

Which MBOX are you using?

I have the old DigiDesign Mbox 2 with the Focusrite Pre amps in it. It's a temporary interface. I just got a 32 channel 8 bus mixer and am moving to a Focusrite firewire interface. But I've been happy with Digi Mbox 2. Good for travel and goofing around at home writing.
