p5e vm hdmi and sleep issues

hi guys,

i have this old mobo and i recently upgrade it from 10.5.8 to latest mavericks.

setup is pretty old but still working:

p5e vm hdmi (of course ;))

4 gig of ram

core 2 duo e5300 (will upgrade it soon to quad q6600 or more)

nvidia 7300 (now replaced by geforce 210)

sata hdd

ide dvd player

with 10.5.8 i have almost no issues.

everything works fine (usb/firewire/lan sleep/wake included),

but with mavericks the nvidia 7300 works only @ 1024x576 in vesa mode with no qe/ci  so i replaced it with a geforce 210

after few tuning problems (i had to install nvidia cuda drivers to enable full support/resolution), also with mavericks almost everything seems to work so far.

all usb ports, jmicron ata and intel sata (ahci mode) controller works otb

i use those kext to have the setup running (everything under s/l/e):

fakesmc (with or without sensor addons)

lan works with AttansicL1Ethernet kext

audio works with patched applehda (883) + hdaenabler

ps2 keyboard/mouse works with AppleACPIPS2Nub + VoodooPS2Controller

nvidia cuda kext drivers for full video support

latest chameleon

smbios as macpro 3,1

basic boot.plist with only:

cstate/pstate enable

graphics enabler

the problems i have so far:

system reboot and shutdown without any issues, but if i try to put in sleep mode the system just switch off the monitor and nothing more.

i can wake up the monitor if i try to click or press any key if i wait no longer than 10 sec.

if i wait more, the monitor doesn't wake up anymore and i have to force the shutdown with power button.

i've done also some tests try adding:
evoreboot

sleepenabler

nullcpupowermanagement

appleRTC patch

AppleACPIPlatform

but nothing changed.

i've attached dsdt file i use, but the system works fine also without it...

dunno if it helps but with 10.5.8 i had to use disabler (now is nullcpu) and sleepenabler to have a perfect sleep.

thnx guys!

whops sorry, i forgot to attach the file ;)

the zip contains "old" dsdt and new one i use with mavericks.

thnx!

very bad kexts to make the system work whit  sleep, and  the problem can be VoodooPS2 , Apple System never using USB PS2 Ports, try Keyboard and Mouse USB, and a Patched Dsdt for EHCI Usb Ports.

evoreboot

sleepenabler

nullcpupowermanagement

+ hdaenabler

Edit: delete all these kexts and install this one VoodooTSCSync.kext

i know ps2 can be tricky, but worked fine in 10.5 so i thought could be working fine also with mavericks.

as i sayd i've tested all those kext to check if i could fix the sleep issue, but i've already deleted them all, i have no evoreboot/sleepenabler/nullcpu, just hdaenabler (i could delete hda and add voodooha, but on my system audio sux).

my dsdt should be already patched, how to checl ehci usb patch in dsdt?

thnx for the reply

p.s.: what VoodooTSCSync.kext does exactly?

edit: i just had a try removing hdaenabler+ps2 and still sleep doesn't work

  • 2 weeks later...

i finally found a way to fix the sleep

i used the command:

 pmset -g assertions

and the output:

Kernel Assertions: 0x4=USB

id=507  level=255 0x4=USB mod=15/05/15 10:03 description=USB2 owner=AppleUSBUHCI

the sleep problem was linked to usb, but dsdt was fixed and also bootloader flags.
in the end i remembered i have an internal usb for the front panel of my htpc (under windows manages volume special funcion buttons, etc).
removing the usb solved the problem :)

thnx for the help guys

I wish i could help u, but i'm not a dsdt expert.

U can have a try with darkwake and/or dart flag in chemeleon for black screen after wake.

And usb fix flag also so maybe it can sleep with usb plugged in...
