Ethernet won't reconnect

Hi

I have an otherwise perfectly working hackintosh which I use for headless fileserver.

But sometimes it's of the network (ethernet connected) for some reason, and I have to reboot to get it to reconnect.

I have done some testing. It is connected with ethernet and DHCP with fixed ip of 10.0.1.5. When I pull the cable and reinsert it, system preferences says 'Ethernet:connected', but now DNs server field is blank and I can't reach it on the network.

Any ideas to get this working? I'm tired of having to reboot it about once a day...

What is your Ethernet device? Do you try reinstall the kext?

OMG, it worked! Thanks for stating the obvious ;-)

Okay, so here's how to do it an case anyone suffers the same issue:

1. I'm using Realtek 8111F, so download this kext which works with multiple incarnations of the chip: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/88-realtekrtl8111-binary/

2. Delete old Realtek kext from /S/L/E

3. Install with a kext installer app or manually

5. Reboot and enjoy :)

Thanks again.
